MOre hungry people depending on food pantries while the food pantries are suffering loss of donation

For weeks now, while the national news reported fear and worry among Wall Street financial titans, a working mother of four named Darcy Fox was trying to stretch out her family's Ramen noodles and canned goods until her next trip to a charity food pantry.

"Thank God for food pantries," she said on Monday, holding her infant son.

But all over Wichita, while recent news has been dominated by worries from Wall Street, the leaders of Wichita's food charities have watched with growing fear as the number of people showing up for meals and food has set records.

"We're scared, to be quite honest with you," said Brian Walker, the director of the Kansas Food Bank. "We've never encountered numbers like what we are seeing, and we're having trouble sometimes putting together enough in the boxes to make full meals."

10. so what did you get

I have made contact with a church 3 blocks away from my house but I haven't actually ordered anything yet

just don't know.

can you tell me about the variety and quality?

I just have to say a couple of things:

Greenbriar maybe you should CANCEL that cruise you have planned.  Maybe you can sell that expensive ring your abusive (her words) husband gave you?

And people that need food banks AREN'T PICKY ABOUT THE FOOD!

Oh and here's her kicker of a post:

I am still able to go to the store and buy pretty much what I want, but I like the discount price

would I be taking someone's share that really needs it?

Yes, you stupid cow you would be taking someone's share! Jesus, if you can afford food but need a freaking discount clip some damn coupons!

12. Get a load of this.
I took my ma to the store Saturday. She couldn't get much, but enough to survive (I throw down when I can, this week I couldn't) so, get her home with her groceries and I leave. Today she calls me and apparently either the store kept a sack of her food (which they denied when I took her back there tonight) or someone stole her crap right out of the house (which I doubt because she has two dobermans that when off the leash or harness do not like strangers). Any way, it's a mystery. The store gave in to replacing it for her after my reminder that she is blind, on a fixed income, and has traded there for 20 ****ing years. 1 round roll of hamburger, and 4 cans of fruit. Guess people are pulling shit at the store. Holy crap we suck. So far we've held off the wolves, but I don't know about next month.  I may have to borrow the moose's plane and eat them!

In my book that makes you both a thief as this cannot possibly happen.

It is only a matter of time before greenbriar lets them all know how much she makes and how well off she is,this is only the "innocent" start to that.

You have got to be f*cking kidding me? I'd love to just draw the scorn of her fellow teachers over this. I'm sure they know her lifestyle and would find it highly distasteful that she's even considering this. Disgusting!

34. Greenbriar?
Aren't you gainfully employed as a teacher? I always thought a food pantry was for people who are out of a job or really struggling to use rather than being used as a discount grocery store. There has to be something you can cut from the budget to be able to afford food.

hehe  This hit me as funny.  The store kept the food, probably to give to someone else who needed it.  Isn't this exactly what the Democrats do?  Keep your tax money, against your will, to give to someone who needs it more than you?

Hilarious.

Greenbriar is just trying to live up to the liberal motto, "If it's free, it's for me."
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

"America is like a healthy body and its resistance is threefold: its patriotism, its morality, and its spiritual life. If we can undermine these three areas, America will collapse from within."  Stalin

Liberals, always there when they need you.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

I had a neighbor that was on disability that would hit up the food banks once or twice a year.  You got stuff that people donated... you know, stuff they wouldn't buy for themselves.  Pinto beans, five-pound bags of rice, a small bag of flour, some cake mix, and a jar of popcorn kernels.

Knock yourself out greenbriar, you sorry bitch.

So what, glinda if you have to go to a *gasp* church? At least churches will have dissention and be capable of change if things go amiss and will be cognicent of not only the needs, but the troublemakers in their community, like Greenbrier, who would be fraudulantly hitting up the food bank, clothing bank, etc. They also can be far more aware of when someone might need the help but won't ask since they may actually interact with the person or their family on a regular basis. What's more they are far more capable to network to help the person find a job or a BETTER job if that is the issue. A bloated gov. program who doesn't know you from #211500345 can't do anything but dole checks out and, here is your real issue, it can't recognize fraud in the same manner because it doesn't have a pulse on the community like a local establishment would. Government decieves individuals into thinking they are the individualsists when they are not. It fools them into thinking they are self-sufficient when they are far from it. That leaves them no room for improvement unless they are highly motivated and aware of thier situation being born out of the charity of the taxpayer.

When churches can and do offer a net positive, what does it matter if when you walk through the door the face that greets you has a cross worn beneath it? Why is it so bad to be thankful to an establishment that is faith based versus the government. You know if it really offends your senses glinda, you can actually thank the INDIVIDUAL PEOPLE handing you the support rather then the cross hanging on the wall behind them...that is possible you know and the fact that you have to thank *gasp* Christians for being generous is no more of an effort for you then it is to thank my Muslim Somali clerk for checking me out at the store. I don't always have someone's religion on my mind when I thank them for THEIR kindness and generosity. This is where you can just think too much on things. :banghead:

Perhaps I am reading too much into it but the only other time I have heard of the name "glinda" is in the Oz books as a witch.

It is likely not a coincedence that this person chose that name nor her hatred it seems of anything Christian.

WTF would she have done 100 years ago when the ONLY charity doled out was 1--through the church, 2--through neighbors who gave you a job so you could get off your dead lazy ass and WORK your way out of trouble?
