**** those fascists. This is some kind of fascist coup.

Yes. We're trying to destroy the liberal succes story that is Detroit.

I agree. The question is of course, what is there to do about it? Anything that can be ignored obviously will be ignored.

35. Michigan (much like Wisconsin) is a beta test for the rest of the country. . .

. . . If they can pull off such fascist coups in Michigan and WI , they'll be doing it across the country - and as soon as a Republican is elected President, on Capitol Hill as well.

People better wake the **** up. EVERYBODY must be an activist. Now and forever.

But Republican legislators made sure their staffers filled up the gallery so others couldn't get it.

Then they declared the building unsafe so more protestors couldn't get in to watch Republicans vote away their bargaining rights. It was unsafe to have protestors in, but school groups and a Jimmy Johns delivery guy were let in.

Some of those who managed to stay were tear gassed and arrested.

When a judge issued an order to reopen the building, the House brought RTW to an immediate vote before they could be let in. Democrat legislators got off the House Floor to open the doors to them.

Look, what's going on here is shit. Absolute shit. But the sad truth is, the Democrats don't have the numbers in the legislature to stop them. Republicans introduced these measures on the same day they passed them, allowing for no committee hearings, no testimony and no discussion.

So if you're angry (and however angry you are, you have NO idea what I'm feeling like right now), point the finger somewhere else. Point it at those who are trying to trample democracy and turn this state into a fiefdom.

There are words for people like that. Traitor and fascist come to mind.

They have been saying all along that they would not push RTW for less in MI. Then after the elections they completely change course. They pushed the bill through in 1 day after the governor said it was suddenly on the agenda.

And the embrace of cheap, non-union labor in the "right to work" South.

It has decimated the unionized manufacturing industry here in Michigan and the entire industrial midwest. The unionized manufacturing jobs that buttressed broad-based support for Trade Unionism no longer exist in Michigan. The workers who used to see their common interest in a strong unionized workforce no longer have jobs in Michigan; they have moved to Arizona, or North Carolina, or elsewhere. Most of their children left for college in different states and never came back.

If you can still choose to be a part of a union what is so bad about this bill?

Why won't people flock to unions if they're greedy and motivated by self-interest?

Why can unions only survive in closed shop states where the legislature is bought and paid for by unions who extract mandatory fees?

How about the "pro-labor" things like the NLRB, suing companies from moving, throwing roofing nails in parking lots, beating on black men, etc., etc., etc.???

Trust me, DUmmies, for every bullshit charge you can dream up, I can come up with 10 DOCUMENTED instances of union thuggery.

Actions have consequences, moonbats.  This is due to the union power grab for a State Constitutional amendment that would have made virutally everyone providing a service to include teenage babysitters have to join unions, and then stabbing the Gov in the back over the emergency intervention powers law that he needed to keep your cities and school systems from going completely tits-up.

Since he doesn't know how to write the possessive case of the pronoun "it", it seems likely the sobbing neckbeard is a product of a unionized faculty.

Why is it that uneducated morons like Steve always slather their writing with unnecessary, improper apostrophes?

Don't they know "it's" as a possessive tags them as idiots? Why do they fear the word "its"?

Why do they insist on identifying themselves as nitwits by using apostrophes when writing plural nouns?

Apostrophes should be kept in a lockbox, accessible only to civilized and decent people.

Any DUmmy wanting to include an apostrophe in a word should be required to ask permission to open the lockbox and take one out.

And permission will never be given when the word is a plural noun.

A calculated gamble by Michigan unions to enshrine collective bargaining rights in the state constitution ended Tuesday in a resounding defeat.

Voters rejected Proposal 2 about 60%-40%, based on results from Free Press/WXYZ-TV (Channel 7) indicator precincts.

It was a bad night for organized labor, which also saw the defeat of Proposal 4, the home health care initiative backed by the Service Employees International Union.

Had a very interesting conversation via internet with some rather interesting people.

They [ not me]  believe that this is a round about way for Obama to get rid of Unions that stand in the way of his PLAN.

They believe that Obama cannot with Socialists ideas as long as there are Unions make it  to oppose his ideas.  So while he is taking money from the Unions for support is actually funneling the money into the States to go right to work.

Strange idea but if one  wants to take over a country one must get rid of the Unions first.  Take them for all their money then flat line them, make them powerless.

Have to admit the Unions have big power, get the truckers, the dockers and the medical workers to go on strike at the same time, our country would collapse in 3 months.

Interesting theory here, I question some of this but not all, Obama has aliened himself with the Unions but is he in fact working to wipe them out ???

Just some ideas that came my way wondering what you guys think as I am not the smartest banana on the shelf.

Well, whaddaya know...

Liberals lie, they lie all the time. Without ceasing, without exception.

The bill was NOT proposed and passed in a single day. The right to unionize was proposed as a state constitutional amendment and it was defeated:

Liberal thinking is a two-legged stool and magical thinking is one of the legs, the other is a combination of self-loating and misanthropy.  To understand it, you would have to be able to sit on that stool while juggling two elephants, an anvil and a fragmentation grenade, sans pin.
