Yes, yes, yes, it's true that America once had really high income-tax rates for the wealthy, approaching 90%.
HOWEVER, no one ever paid those rates.
I am speaking, of course, of the Eisenhower-Kennedy years, circa 45-50 years ago.
The tax code was riddled with holes, like Swiss cheese.
No way did Joseph Kennedy, Sr., ever pay those rates, and in fact he paid less of a percentage than middle-class and poor people of the time.
The then-wealthiest woman in America (this was the Eisenhower-Kennedy years, remember), Marjorie Merriweather Post, paid zero, ZERO, income taxes, with a fortune in the hundreds of millions (more money then, than it is today).
