October surprise
« on: October 26, 2010, 05:51:09 PM »
I've been watching the news closely the past several days, awaiting an "October surprise" by desperate Dems, and thus far haven't seen anything hinting of one.

Of course, it's important to work on preventing a "November surprise," given the history of the Democrat party going clear back to Aaron Burr 210 years ago, using political machines to steal elections.  But that's next week's worry.

I swear, when the final chapter of the history of this Republic is written, it will record that the Democrat party was the most corrupt entity in all of American history, even the mafia and 19th-century corporate monopolies included.

Earlier this summer, it had been speculated that something akin to a "mini-October surprise" would be infiltration of the Tea Party Patriots so as to create a "racial incident," making that movement look bad at the last minute, but at least on the surface, nothing seems to be happening there.

I wouldn't count out an "October surprise" just yet, even though it is nearly October 27.

However, I suspect that because of its monotonous overuse by Democrats the past several elections, the voting public is now jaded about such last-minute "revelations;" "oh, it's just another one of those manufactured scandals that's going to be proven wrong after the elections......ho-hum."

But it doesn't hurt to look out for them.

Does anyone think an "October surprise" is still in the making?

The Democrats have been hitting every high profile Republican in Massachusetts daily with October surprises.  None have stuck so far..

As a matter of fact, the lies have gotten so bad that one of the Republican candidates is suing his Democrat opponent for using total fabrications to unapologetically bash him with..

Thanks, sir.

I was wondering if that might be happening on a more-local level, rather than nationally.

But it's obvious the voting public is more skeptical of "last-minute" exposes than they used to be.

Which of course is a good thing.

It is getting really REALLY ugly here. I suspect it's because the Democrats who have controlled The Commonwealth for decades actually need to fight for their seats - and they don't know how - So, they are resorting to gutter-level tactics that are among the lowest attacks I have ever witnessed  -- There is the Hudak/Tierney issue I mentioned above.

There is the Perry/Keating battle - where a long ended case of police abuse involving an officer under Perry's command groped a 14 year old girl. The offending officer was disciplined and fired nearly two decades ago, and now a high priced Democrat lawyer has brought the girl out to partially blame Perry, by saying Perry let it go on.

Democrats including Barney Frank have attempted to run roughshod over debates, by preventing any answer from their opponents and one Democrat actually went on to insult the intelligence of his opponent during the debate--  and then said she probably can't spell Lexington and Concord during comments afterward. (Rep Fagan Vs. Shaunna O'Connell)

Pretty much these same things are occurring all the way down to the level of 'Dog-Catcher' here.

Thankfully though, very little is 'sticking' - It suggests that even here, people are sick of the nonsense. The question, of course, is how many of those who are sick of Massachusetts politics actually do something about it ?

It's already so dirty here, caused by the democrats, that people wouldn't recognize an October surprise and wouldn't give a damn anyway. 99% have already made up their minds and hell nor high water is going to change them. The only thing left to do around here is to cast and count the votes.

How about the ruling in AZ where the voters not having to show any evidence of being a citizen to vote?

I think that the widespread use of mail-in and early voting will come back to haunt the Republicans.  The system is laden with all sorts of possibilities for fraud.

I haven't had the time to look up "hard" numbers, but the media here (Ca) are trying to show polls where Whitman is down against Brown, I don't buy it. I certainly hope we won't put Moonbeam back in office.

October is almost over and no surprise yet. The only surprise is that gas prices is rising, which is unusual because after Labor Day it goes down. Couple that with high unemployment rate.

Brit Hume was saying last night on Hannity I think, that he doesn't know what to make of the polls that are suddenly showing leaps by the Dems in some areas. He was wondering how factual they were or if they were based on prior elections where X number of each party shows up to vote - thus the poll results would show Y.

He did say that no one should become complacent or accept that their vote would not matter and not get out and vote. Which is what I'm afraid conservatives may do because their candidate is so far ahead, they think they don't need to bother with standing in line.

I do hope the Dems think their candidates are going to lose and they won't bother with going to the polls.  :evillaugh:

IMO, I don't think we'll see a complacency problem.  The only thing people have been able to do is wave signs, march on Washington, write letters, call the congresscreeps, make blog posts, anything to jump up and down and say "LISTEN TO ME YOU ASS!"  All to no avail, no one hears, no one cares, they know better than us.

Less than one week away, and we finally, finally get heard.  You think people are going to blow that off?

Locally, we haven't seen the drama that Miskie describes.  I saw my first Owens sign (incumbent-D) yesterday, with the challenger R plastered all over the landscape.  I haven't seen hide nor hair of Owens, nor received even an email.  He doesn't call, he doesn't write...... :bawl: :-)

Oh!  Mayor Rudy was just 1/2 mile from house today, giving his endorsement to Doheney!  I had to work, I couldn't go.  But there's my brush with greatness.   :-)

If not an october Surprise then like Frank said its what happenes AFTEr November 2nd that makes me wonder what they will do and how low it will get. We are already seeing the Moonbats talking trash about how they will line us up and take us out. Then there is the tread about how we are going to be the ones screaming about voter fraud, it makes you wonder just what they are capable of ?  If they do somehow manage to defraud the votes in enough states this could go very bad for all of us.
