no, not from what Bernacke has been saying, or the silly confidence numbers. Our local gaming convention, yes toy soldiers, it's doubled from last year.

SO? You may ask. People came from all the way to Washington State, Arizona and Nevada, for a smallish event in San Diego. Yup, people are indeed confident they can blow some quid on purely a luxury thing.

Now need to write that story. Purely we have a gaming convention in this town.

Oh and we did get, between the two cameras A LOT of photos... as is I take more than I can ever use, so will be posting a few later in the day... but yes, the economy is getting better.

(And since we entered minis into the painting contest as well, I will be going to do some gaming in the afternoon, after article and photos are filed)

If Barry isn't careful the economy will get back to 2002 numbers.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

Yeah, our economy in Las Vegas gets magically better after a major convention too.  I wonder why that is!  ::)

Libs have no concept of basic economics or human nature. People are more likely to gamble in bad economies than good.
There were only two options for gender. At last count there are at least 12, according to libs. By that standard, I'm a male lesbian.

Which is why most of the bartenders, waitresses, cooks, etc., have had their hours cut from 40 to 25 hours per week the last time I was there.

I don't suppose economist is on nadin's resume, is it?

Of course, we're still over 8 percent unemployment and I'll be willing to bet dollars to donuts that the GDP is growing at less than 1 percent when the 2Q numbers come out.  If we hit negative growth in the 3rd Quarter, Obumbles is thankfully toast.

I went to town today. During my short trip I saw two different people at two different street intersections with cardboard signs saying they needed money for food. The most I ever saw under Bush was one. So 0 has doubled the economy?

Not that it really matters.  Anyone who lives there travels by golf cart.  But the point is taken.

Of course, nobody seems to give a shit that heating oil is going to be over $4/gal next winter, and if anyone thinks next year is going to be as mild as this last winter, someone is going to be VERY disappointed, and very broke.

I know nothing of Catalina Island, thanks for clearing that up.

We were thrilled with the mild winter, I only got 1 gas bill for over $200, we were even tempted to join the budget plan.

$3.95 a gallon here, and I honestly am stunned now by grocery prices - just stunned.   My bank offers this nice pie chart to break down how much you are spending on certain categories from your account and we were blown away by the gas and grocery categories.

President Romney will catch all the flak for high heating oil prices next winter.  At least the part of winter after January 20.

A can of Rosarito refried beans has more than doubled. Rice has more than tripled. This is what the rest of the world eats to survive. It's almost like 0bama has a war on the poor and helpless in addition to the middle class.

0's hero said this and don't think he does not take it to heart.

"The way to crush the bourgeoisie is to grind them between the millstones of taxation and inflation."

Like all socialist/communist/fascist/democrats, 0bama's real goal is to kill the middle class.

"The economy is slowly getting better" seems to be a major lib/dem/socialist talking point. A troll on one of my other forums that we suspect of being a paid plant is pushing that exact same quote there.

Well you have to admit that since women no longer have to pay that oppressive $9 a month for birth control pills that will make things so much better. In fact they can use that $9 to buy 3 extra drops of fuel.  :rotf:

You mean Fluke gave up on the $1,000.00 or more per year expense for contraceptives ?

14. hugs

it might be regional... but it struck me as interesting. After all coming to San Diego from Washington, just hotel and food, assuming people drove, it about six hundred dollars, rough estimate..

For those of us in San Diego...

I just hope things improve overall for everybody.

Well, I feel much better about the economy now.  :mental:
