I saw where a moonbat angry at Skimmer had started a new board. It's lower class than Crazy Andrea's place and pretty deserted, but I thought this post was interesting:

Way back last Christmas, when Skinner was all aglow & gushing about being invited by "a friend of his who worked at the White House" for a VIP Christmas tour of the White House, I knew he was well on the way to being co-opted.
I believe Skinner has always been affiliated with the DLC or the Progressive Policy Institute and/or one or more right wing Democrats or something similar.
At one point, I was trying to learn more about a DU poster who was supposed to have passed away. There was a battle at DU as to whether she had really died or not. Apparently, one of her screen names at DU had Liberal Lawyer or some such. Apparently, she had other screen names as well.
I tried to use the net to find out if indeed she had died or not. Following various links and googling got me to a board called "Conservative Cave," whose owner was apparently a fan of hers because she had predicted (correctly) that there would be no "Fitzmas" for Democrats. It was an old love because she indeed did seem to be an old school liberal and the owner of CC makes no secret about hating Democrats in general, even RW Democrats, let alone real liberals.
Anyway, while there, I saw a post by CC's owner, claiming he had been a college classmate of Skinner. And the owner of CC also claimed that Democrats (precise Democratic entity or persons not specified) had Skinner start DU to keep "the worst of them" in one place, lest they go traipsing around the internet. (I have dubbed what he described as a "corral" for Democrats.)
What is true and what is not among the things I have seen on the Internet, I have no idea.

Well, I'm skeptical, but we'll see what happens.
Remember, I did this with oldelmtree too, and it turned out Andrea, owner of that site, wanted a "closer relationship" than what franksolich wanted. I'm not the "let's cuddle and get cozy" sort of person.
I signed up at this new place only in case their member "sky" is truly desirous of knowing the facts.

Posts:2I find myself being excited about it, and thinking that this is the only hope on the horizon.
However, as usual, there isn't much attention to or knowlege about poverty, and I have come to the point where that is my line in the sand.
I know it varies by location.... apparently, Fresno Occupy is more involved with homelessness, but many consider their involvement to be limited to camping and handing out food to poor and homeless people.
There is much more to poverty than that... as I keep saying, Charity won't ever solve poverty....NEVER.
The Occupy in my area has even been hostile to homeless people, so there is no way I would consider involvement.
Occupy can either be an integrative movement of middleclass AND poor people, or it can serve to further isolate poor people. The choice is up top the middleclass Occupiers.... and that isn't just financial... it is a mindset.
The future remains to be seen.

This is the second time I've come here, I must say it can be fun since a few of you seem capable of actual discussion instead of throwing childish names around. And I always enjoy honest discussions. Unfortunately you guys only seem to notice my site when I get to the front page of reddit or to the top of DU's greatest page. We've been there 24/7 for over 8 months now, even if some days were slower than others. Stop by some time, we don't bite.

I think it was right after the site was first set up, and there was some criticism about the random nature of it; that it didn't seem to have a distinct "identity."
And I pointed out the site was still new, and had to have time to evolve into what it was to be; all things take time to find a direction.....using this site as an example, which stumbled around when still new.

I wouldn't call it an obsession with a member in particular, sir--please notice I wasn't even aware of the gender of the member, as I was more "obsessed" with inaccuracies being spread around the internet; the "message" rather than the "messenger."
I've been dealing with that for a very long time now, and it gets irritating, when all one really has to do is ask franksolich for the facts of a matter, and one's told. It needs pointed out that in all these years, no one from the other side has ever asked franksolich, "hey, what's the deal on this?"
Not once. Not one single time.
Apparently it's just easier to run around the internet repeating rumors and mistruths, I guess.

It's your right to ignore the "name-calling" if you want; it's sort of like ignoring the political cartoon on the editorial page of a newspaper. Caricature just isn't everybody's cup of tea.

However, a few words of caution. Don't let the site degenerate into simply an anti-DU site.
That doesn't work, as Andrea of oldelmtree knows, and has tried to discourage, with little or no success.
I got at least a superficial impression the site's for Democrats seeking an alternative for the current president; so perhaps, if my superficial impression's correct, the accent, the focus, should be on that.
(I have no comment about the pro-0bama Democrats and the anti-0bama Democrats; not being a Democrat, that's not my dog's fight. While it's a passionate issue for Democrats, dividing Democrats, I simply look at it as if watching a show on television.)
But I dunno; give me a chance to take a look-see as the week goes on.

Maybe it has something to do with the fact (not rumor--FACT) that on most discussion boards, but particularly in liberal circles, dissent is frowned upon, to put it mildly.

It's always so much fun to have condescending, undeservedly arrogant leftists wander in here and look down their noses at us, it really is. While trying to appear neutral or "fair", you just can't suppress your personality enough to not get your petty digs in. The best part is you think you are so clever and sophisticated while you shit on the carpet and drag your ass around the room.
I really don't get people like you, I never have. I guess it's because I actually have some dignity and respect for others, especially when I am in their "home". If I don't like it, I just leave and never come back. You, on the other hand, seemed to have gotten a bit butt-hurt over having your website quoted and ran right over. For someone who likes to pass themselves as some kind of "above it all" intellectual as you obviously like to do, you're a bit thin skinned.

You know, sir, I just found out something new the other day.
Remember it was the absurd allegation of the scammers that "freepers" stopped paypal from disbursing funds for a "live-saving" operation. Allegedly "freepers" contacted paypal and told them not to pay the cash out.
This of course was back in mid-2005.
But back in mid-2005, paypal had a policy of withholding funds for x number of days--apparently now, in 2011, it's twenty-one days--meaning that the funds would've never been available to the scammers as soon as they wanted it anyway.
Of course, the charge was totally baseless.
I didn't know this until recently because I've never used paypal.

I would do me no good to call 911. The best time emergency services could get to me is 20 minutes.

I tried to explain as much to a liberal/progressive cousin of mine that bombarded me with emails before the Obama inauguration.
There is simply not enough of a tax base to fund what liberals want to happen in this country. Government-funded "free" healthcare is not going to happen without enormous yearly deficits by the federal government. The Obama administration has not run an annual deficit under 1 Trillion dollars during any year he has been President. It's just not going to happen.
