DU-folk are :hi5: ing, but the judge's "reasoning" is very narrow and seems pretty tenuous. The lawsuit could be reinstated (and hopefully assigned to a different judge). Because his ruling cited specifics that may be peculiar to the WashPost where other "news" outlets and celebri-holes wrote/spoke differently, it may not affect other cases (though those other cases, where they cited the WashPost, could rebound into the WashPost case in appeal).
If, as anti-Covid-vaxxers claim, https://www.poynter.org/fact-checking/2021/robert-f-kennedy-jr-said-the-covid-19-vaccine-is-the-deadliest-vaccine-ever-made-thats-not-true/ , https://gospelnewsnetwork.org/2021/11/23/covid-shots-are-the-deadliest-vaccines-in-medical-history/ , The Vaccine is deadly, where in the US have Pfizer and Moderna hidden the millions of bodies of those who died of "vaccine injury"? Is reality a Big Pharma Shill?

Millions now living should have died. Anti-Covid-Vaxxer ghouls hardest hit.

EXCLUSIVE: 8 Covington Catholic Teens Sue ‘Most Egregious High-Profile Individuals’ for Defamation
https://lawandcrime.com/high-profile/exclusive-8-covington-catholic-teens-sue-most-egregious-high-profile-individuals-for-defamation/

Quote
Lawyers for eight Covington Catholic students (John Does 1-8) filed a defamation lawsuit on Thursday in Kentucky’s Kenton County Circuit Court against 12 individuals — lawmakers, journalists/media figures and social media personalities included.

Attorneys Robert Barnes (disclosure: Barnes has written columns for Law&Crime) and Kevin Murphy began the suit by going back to January 18, 2019, when, they say, “A field trip to our nation’s capital for a group of minors from Covington, Kentucky turned into a social media nightmare that changed their futures forever.”

This was when MAGA hat wearing high school students (Nick Sandmann, in particular) came face to face with a 65-year-old Native American man identified as Nathan Phillips. The lawsuit said that the defendants jumped to conclusions, painting the plaintiffs as racists, lying about an event they didn’t witness firsthand, and libeling the minors. (Note that these minors are bringing this lawsuit through their parents.)

Who is being sued by them.
Quote
The defendants have been named as follows (Law&Crime is not including a copy of the lawsuit here so as not publicize their addresses): 2020 presidential hopeful Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), Rep. Deb Haaland (D-New Mexico), CNN’s Ana Navarro, Maggie Haberman of the New York Times, comedian Kathy Griffin, ABC News political analyst Matthew Dowd, Reza Aslan (formerly of CNN), Kentucky entrepreneur Adam Edelen, Princeton University History Professor Kevin M. Kruse, activist and journalist Shaun King, Mother Jones editor-in-chief Clara Jeffery and Rewire.News editor-in-chief Jodi Jacobson.

Elizabeth Warren is running for President and that could be dashed. Kathy Griffin is also being sued. Hope they all lose big.

I have not heard of any charges being filed against people who made death threats.

Judge reopens Covington Catholic teen's $250 million lawsuit against Washington Post
https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2019/oct/28/nick-sandmann-covington-catholic-student-washingto/

Quote
A federal judge in Kentucky has reopened the $250 million defamation case filed by a Covington Catholic student against the Washington Post after dismissing it in July, allowing the lawsuit to proceed but narrowing its focus.

U.S. District Court Judge William Bertelsman agreed to permit discovery on three of 33 allegedly libelous statements in the Post’s coverage of the Jan. 18 incident pertaining to teenager Nicholas Sandmann. The Post has insisted that its reporting was fair and accurate.

All three flagged statements from the newspaper’s coverage refer to Omaha Nation elder Nathan Phillips being blocked or impeded by Nicholas, a student at Covington Catholic High School, during their viral encounter at the Lincoln Memorial stairs.

Good.

'Huge Win!' Judge Allows Sandmann's Suit To Proceed Against NBC
https://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/nb/kristine-marsh/2019/11/22/huge-win-judge-allows-sandmanns-suit-proceed-against-nbc

Quote
It’s been nearly a year since the media targeted and smeared a group of teenage boys from a Catholic high school for daring to don “MAGA” hats while a Native American activist beat a drum in one student's face and other angry radical protesters screamed at them. Nick Sandmann, the teen at the center of that media-driven controversy, rightfully hired a legal team and has taken the media to task over the past year for portraying him and his peers as racist aggressors in that encounter. Thursday, Nick Sandmann’s attorney revealed an encouraging development in their case against NBC News.

According to The Washington Times, Kentucky Federal Judge William O. Bertelsman, is allowing Sandmann’s team to proceed in the discovery phase, of obtaining evidence from the network for their case against NBC:

“William O. Bertelsman dismissed parts of the lawsuit while allowing discovery on allegations that the network’s coverage defamed the teen by reporting that he ‘blocked’ Native American elder Nathan Phillips in a Jan. 18 encounter at the Lincoln Memorial.”

Good. WaPo and NBC are being sued, along with Kathy Griffin, Bill Maher, and Jim Carrey.

The Washington Post is liquid shit printed on toilet paper. Anytime a conservative says something, the Post qualifies by saying that person had no evidence (even if they do have evidence), yet the Post had no reservations printing a completely fact-free summary of Gordon Sondland's testimony and how it supposedly vindicated the dems.

After Suing CNN, Sandmann’s Legal Team Now Targeting Bill Maher, Kathy Griffin, HBO, NBC and AP
https://starpolitical.com/sandmanns-legal-team-now-targeting-bill-maher-kathy-griffin-hbo-nbc-and-ap/

Quote
Nick Sandmann’s high profile legal team announced Tuesday night they are planning to file a suit every few weeks or month and have at least 10 major targets.

According to Axios, CNN became the second news outlet sued by Nicholas Sandmann’s representatives over their coverage of his January encounter with a Native American elder in Washington, D.C. and the Covington Catholic student’s lawyer told Fox News’ “The Story with Martha MacCallum” Tuesday night they plan to file more lawsuits.

“We plan to file a suit every few weeks or month,”  McMurthy told MacCallum Tuesday night. “At least 10 top targets in the media and individuals … Certainly we’re looking very closely at NBC, we’re looking very closely at AP, we’re looking very closely at HBO for the conduct of Bill Maher, and we’re looking at some of the people like Kathy Griffin who sent out these horrible tweets that are called doxing.”

That includes Kathy Griffin, Bill Maher, and Jim Carrey. There are many more likely.

If I were sandman, I'd prefer not to have it disclosed either. The guy is pretty much set for life and money has a way of disappearing when made public. The fact that these news outlets are paying out a significant sum of money is justice enough, the numbers dont matter

Report: Kathy Griffin and Ana Navarro Named in Next Round of Nick Sandmann Lawsuits
https://www.waynedupree.com/kathy-griffin-ana-navarro-nick-sandmann/

Quote
Remember the sweet Covington Catholic boy Nick Sandmann?

He was the cute kid in a MAGA hat who the media and Democrats dragged through the mud for no reason – his only crime was that he was a Trump supporter.

Well, after his young life was nearly ruined by these vultures, little Nick got himself a good lawyer and fought back and he’s been suing everyone and their brother ever since.

As a matter of fact, just a few days ago we found out that CNN settled their lawsuit with Sandmann for a “reported” $25 million dollars.

Looks like it is $25 million, but unconfirmed.

'Covington kid' Nick Sandmann says he's lived under 'constant threat' for over a year
https://www.foxnews.com/media/nick-sandmann-covington-lincoln-memorial-media

Quote
Covington Catholic High School student Nick Sandmann said that he has lived under a "constant" and "terrible" threat -- ever since his image was splashed across television screens and posted on websites and social media platforms worldwide.

In exclusive new interviews with veteran journalist and Fox Nation host Lara Logan, Sandmann opened up about the ongoing fallout from an incident on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial on January 18, 2019. The nationally publicized incident has become a case study in journalistic malpractice, critics say.

Nick Sandmann states he is stilling being harassed. He sued CNN and they settled out of court.

Kathy Griffin Beats Lawsuit Over Attempted Doxing of Teenagers
https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/thr-esq/kathy-griffin-beats-lawsuit-attempted-doxing-teenagers-1289717

Quote
Once upon a time before social distancing became a thing, the nation was momentarily obsessed by a group of high school students coming face-to-face with Native American activists at the foot of the Lincoln Memorial. In particular, the image of one student in a "Make America Great Again" hat looking at Native American elder Nathan Phillips sent social media into a tizzy. The Jan. 18, 2019, "incident" triggered discussions of incivility, of rushing to judgments and finally of repercussions. The legacy of that day continues. On Thursday, comedian Kathy Griffin slipped one of the many lawsuits that followed for her minor role on Twitter, where she demanded names and shame upon the Covington High School students.

U.S. District Court Judge William Bertelsman holds that Griffin's attempted doxing doesn't constitute acts committed in Kentucky and thus she's not subject to the jurisdiction of this federal court. In dismissing the suit, the judge adds that allowing Griffin to be sued in Kentucky for her postings "would also violate basic fairness or due process."

Hope it is appealed.

‘Rush to Judgment’ Shames Media, Twitter … and Us
https://www.hollywoodintoto.com/rush-to-judgment-review/

Quote
The opening seconds of “Rush to Judgment” might trigger segments of the viewing audience.

It’s images of red hats, MAGA hats to be specific, tumbling off the assembly line.

Need some Chamomile tea, perhaps? That’s part of the message behind a film capturing one of the worst media meltdowns of the modern era.

Nick Sandmann is a victim of cancel culture.

Quote
Nick Sandmann is the reluctant star of “Rush to Judgment,” a soft-spoken teen recalling how the Jan. 19, 2019 confrontation changed his life forever. At first, both social media and journalists tag-teamed against him and his friends. Collectively, they sparked a feeding frenzy against minors that should never have happened, even if they were guilty of the thought crimes in play.

And they weren’t, for the record.

Bill Maher called Sandmann, “a little prick” from his HBO perch. Far-left comic Kathy Griffin weaponized her massive social media flock against Sandmann and his peers.

“Name these kids. I want NAMES. Shame them. If you think these f***ers wouldn’t dox you in a heartbeat, think again.” She later survived a lawsuit over her verbal attacks.

It’s easy to forget these high schoolers weren’t grown men but teens trapped in the media’s rage against all things Trump. Their crimes? Wearing MAGA hats and appearing at a March for Life event. That, and being utterly flummoxed by Nathan Phillips and black Hebrew Israelites shouting the nastiest things possible at them, sealed their fate.

CNN contributor Reza Aslan famously dubbed Sandmann’s visage “punchable.” That was one of the kinder attacks against the boys and their families. Death threats flooded in from all directions. Commentators on the Left and the Right savaged the lads.

Bill Maher and Kathy Griffin are vile.

Quote
Shouldn’t adults be the ones protecting teens, not siccing mobs on them?

We also meet a black Covington Catholic student who got verbally insulted by the Israelites during the confrontation. The ensuing backlash soured him on the school, convincing him to leave after one tumultuous year,

He was 14 at the time of the confrontation.

The film makes copious use of social media influencers, appropriately enough, to shape the evolving story. We also hear from sober journalists who remind us how their peers broke every rule, written and unwritten, to trash the teens.

“I had known that the news media was biased and there was Fake News. Until I lived the Fake News, I didn’t believe it could be as vicious and vile as it was,” one Covington Catholic parent says.

Nicholas Sandmann reaches settlement with NBC in Covington Catholic High School controversy
https://www.foxnews.com/media/nicholas-sandmann-nbc-settlement-covington-kid

Quote
Nicholas Sandmann settled Friday with NBC-Universal, he said.

The media had lambasted the Covington Catholic High School student from Kentucky, now 19, over a confrontation at the 2019 March for Life in Washington, D.C.

"At this time I would like to release that NBC and I have reached a settlement," wrote Sandmann on Twitter, adding that the terms were confidential.

Following the 2019 incident in Washington, D.C., many media outlets and Democratic politicians criticized Sandmann for a confrontation with a Native American elder at the Lincoln Memorial following the march.

Sandmann was recorded on video wearing one of former President Donald Trump's "Make America Great Again" campaign hats while smiling at the activist, Nathan Phillips, as Phillips beat a ceremonial drum and chanted at him in close proximity.

NBC has to now pay up to Nick Sandmann.
