When President Obama promised that the use of chemical weapons in Syria would cross a "red line" that would "change my calculations," he was going further than many of his advisers wanted or even expected by pledging the further involvement in the conflict should chemical weapons be used, the New York Times reported Sunday.
“The idea was to put a chill into the Assad regime without actually trapping the president into any predetermined action,†said one senior official, who, like others, discussed the internal debate on the condition of anonymity. But “what the president said in August was unscripted,†another official said. Mr. Obama was thinking of a chemical attack that would cause mass fatalities, not relatively small-scale episodes like those now being investigated, except the “nuance got completely dropped.â€
Months later, after reports that chemical weapons have been used on a small scale, the administration appears to be moving toward providing lethal weapons to the Syrian rebels.

9. There's the loophole - if it wasn't typed into the TelePrompter, it's not official policy. It wasn't
a huge deal - that is until the President of the United States made it so by defining it as a red line.

11. I'm impressed with Obama's skill in beating back the warmongers and "humanitarian" imperialists.
It's too bad that there were those in his own administration undermining him and advocating for war.
That said, US actions have been unhelpful in finding a political solution to Syria's internal war. Indeed, the US promoted armed struggle at every turn rather than urge both sides to dialogue unconditionally: without the condition to disarm, step down, or what have you.
Barry is too much of a chicken to even protect his own people from being killed, what makes you think he has the balls to go after any other leader killing their own.
