This person expects the fellow waitstaff to be her mental health care professional?

I am a social worker currently pretending to be a food server at a local casino.

HUH???? A bi-polar SOCIAL WORKER? Anyone else think this is a disaster waiting to happen, or the reason it is no longer a social worker?
I'm the guy your mother warned you about!

It's all relative and I don't think God ever gives us more than we can handle.

I dunno, there are times when it looks like he picked someone to be the example for a "There but for the grace of God go I" comparison...

The grass is always greener, Ree...I never get the manic side of things, the closest I get is OCD and anxiety that feels manic sometimes. The pathetic thing about DUmmies is that the purposely let their illness beat them instead of working to beat it. Everybody has a story and every single person in this world has things large and small to overcome. Something that would cause a meltdown in one person is shrugged off by another. It's all relative and I don't think God ever gives us more than we can handle.

I have good days and not so good days...To me it's not an excuse for anything..it's just the way I am...

1. have you talked to your boss?

sounds a little like you freaked them out, and now they don't know what to do. seems like management needs to hear directly from you at this point. is this a big company? do they have an HR person? it would help if they were big enough to have a written policy on this sort of thing. i would think that a casino gets all kinds of people working for them, so there might be some precedent.

2. This sounds the same as just about every job I have ever been on, and I disclose nothing.

I think it is common on any job to get flak from all sides.

Any job requires a very thick skin. Meltdown won't help. The only thing you can do is smile and agree.

It seems or sounds phony but it's phony anyway, in that you are a social worker, but now acting as food server.

It's a paycheck. And I know it's the same with the customers at the table. They will be very rude, change their mind, complain, etc. And you just have to smile and say, oh, we will fix it for you.

It's merely a temporary inconvenience. Bear with it, til you can get back on a better job.
