Obama may delay Hawaiian vacation over tax fight

Quote
Washington (CNN) -- President Barack Obama is considering at least a short delay to the start of his holiday vacation in Hawaii so he can try to work out a deal with congressional Republicans on the Bush tax cuts that expire December 31, CNN has learned.

Two senior administration officials tell CNN the White House has been getting signals that the lame duck session of Congress could drag on past December 18, when the president is scheduled to depart for Hawaii.

Obama has privately said he is willing to stay in Washington until Christmas Eve if necessary to finish the contentious debate over taxes, the officials said.

While administration officials do not expect that Obama will have to stay in town until Christmas Eve, which he did last year because of health care reform, they believe there could be a delay of at least a couple of days.

The reason is that Democrats and Republicans have made little progress in the tax debate so far, and White House aides went into Tuesday's long-awaited "Slurpee Summit" believing that both parties will need a lot more negotiating time beyond this one meeting to come up with a compromise.

Another vacation?

It would be nice if Obama had a job and wasn't on welfare.

He wants to be careful, if he delays too long he'll need to put his vacations into a holding pattern.

He's got to squeeze in as many vacations at the taxpayer's expense as he can since he knows he won't be around after 2012.

And the left said W took a lot of vacations.  :-)
I may not lock my doors while sitting at a red light and a black man is near, but I sure as hell grab on tight to my wallet when any democrats are close by.

Another vacation for the most incompetent imposter in the White House?! People are taking "staycations", (stay at home vacations), and this guy is going on another vacation?
Is this the same guy that told people to stay home and don't gamble in Las Vegas? Another vacation, really?!? :argh:

Personally, I'd be over the moon if Obama were on vacation all the friggin' time. The less time he spends in Washington, the less damage occurs overall. It would be well worth the million or 2 bucks a day to keep him away from the Beltway.

You have a good point.
At least he can't push his commie agenda during his "vacation".

Don't be silly. Of course he can. Just because any president is on "vacation" that doesn't mean he's not subject to being available for crises. And since Zero likes running around in front of the press without his shirt on, he's not above making a half-assed speech in support of his socialist agenda while he's watching his kids play in the Hawaiian surf.
