Washington (CNSNews.com) – Democratic Sens. John Kerry and Barbara Boxer told CNSNews.com that the nation must adopt the Obama administration’s cap-and-trade proposal to reduce carbon emissions, even if it results in massive increases in gasoline and electricity prices.

In fact, Obama administration officials have been quite clear that higher energy prices are precisely the point of a cap and trade system. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner told the Senate Finance Committee on March 4 that higher energy prices were necessary to control how people use energy.
 
“Cap and trade will increase the cost of energy,” Geithner told the committee. “That’s necessary if you’re going to change how people use energy.”

Even the president himself admitted prices will rise. In a January 2008 interview with the San Francisco Chronicle, Obama said that electricity prices would “necessarily skyrocket” under cap and trade – something he said is necessary to “force” people “to do the right thing.”

Boxer, meanwhile, described it as a “moral obligation” to “do all we can” to prevent the Earth from warming.

Of course, you friggin retards--it's not like YOU have to pay energy costs for your travel, etc.

And when gas hits $4/gallon again, like it will, I'm posting this comment far and wide, then daring people to tell me Democrats are the party "for the little guy".

They've been getting away with posing as that for decades now, why should that stop? But cap and trade will hit the poor the hardest and directly, but they'll never believe it when you try to tell them that. Barack Hussein Obama really thinks most of the American public could qualify for the Special Olympics if gullibility is a qualifier. He's right.

Here, I thought that the whole point of Obama's "Green Economy" was to build an infrastructure that would create and transport green energy.  I guess they are admitting now that they really can't do that yet, so people just have to use less.   :whatever:

Well, it goes even beyond that.  All the generation in the world won't help you if you don't have an effective, sustainable TRANSMISSION and DISTRIBUTION system to get power from plants to consumers.  Not only is the government an impediment to that process, so are the luddite NIMBY/BANANA types who think living in the 19th century "off the grid" is so friggin awesome--that is, until they actually have to DO it.
