Some bad weather coming!

It'll be here in 45 minutes.  A cold front, stretching from almost the Gulf of Mexico to Ontario/Quebec.  There's heavy rain and high winds--70 mph has been the upper limit or so.  Once it gets through, about midnight, temps here will cool down rather drastically.  I gassed up my wife's car and puit it in the garage we rent.  Then, I put $20.00 in the RAV (almost filled it) and put that into the center of the parking lot, away from any trees in the direction that this storm is coming from, and windshield away from the oncoming storm (if some car glass does go out, at least it won't be in my field of vision).  I also took down our hanging plants from the patio.

40 minutes or so, now. :o

That front was supposed to pass through here between and 6 pm and midnight tonight....it's 4:00 pm and it's here...been here an hour or more.

Looking at the radar now.  Line going from NY/MA border along the NY/VT border all the way into Canada.  Heading straight for us.

We're waiting for it too, it's just crossing the border from PA to NJ, the stuff we're getting should be here in a half hour. I'm supposed to go to Church, haven't decided yet if I'll go tonight or tomorrow, would prefer to go tonight though.

I wonder if this is the same front that went through Illinois yesterday afternoon?  We had monsoon like winds and rain for about 45 minutes or so.  It hit us between 4 and 5 p.m.

I hope it's not like the one that went through Kansas and Oklahoma.  The 70+mph straightline winds destroyed a mobile home, killing 3 people including a baby, in Nowata, Oklahoma.  They also pushed a semi completely off the road, killing the driver.

The day after . . . We lost power for about two hours.  A few roads were closed before the storm line hit, as the winds that were out in front of the cold front took out trees all over the place.  For some reason, we really don't seem to get much in the way of storm damage.  We were just leaving our apartment and heading to my parents' house about 20 miles north, when the power came back on.

Someone on the Weather Channel said that the cold front is the thing that's steering TS Leslie towards the Maritimes in Canada, and away from the East Coast of the US.  I'll take it.

Strangely, all we got was rain. It poured here like there was a heavy duty firehouse above the house. It is quite a bit cooler this morning, was 58 at 7am!  :o

I got seriously delayed by the semi accident. The detour took everyone about 25 miles out of the way, an onto the old RT 66. The wind on the intrstate was really something to fight with...

What a weird storm, we had heavy rain for about 10 minutes, some thunder, but that was it, but the storm was destructive all around us.
