So then.....assuming the posted photograph of the gigantic primitive is really the gigantic primitive, his weight of circa 440 pounds and his age of 40 years seems credible.
And if that is so, then the gigantic primitive's either lying about his chow intake, or lying about what his chow intake consists of, or both.
Reasonable?
This is a really interesting thread~ albeit the colorful vignette's.
Obesity is a leading killer in this country~Diabetes is #1 and the two go hand in hand. It is something that should not be taken lightly and we all know that. Logic will tell us that even if we are not as eloquent with the math as Texacon and Franksolich are; if we exercise and eat correctly, we should loose weight.
However, the math is not that simple when you begin to look at it from the heart. This man and his marriage is obviously troubled.
We all have our demons and we have to be frank with ourselves and know that any and all addictions are hard to deal with.
It is so easy to tell someone what to do or to hand them a formula for success. The one thing that we cannot do it look into the soul of that person and get the cobwebs out and see the real ghosts. Can we shoo away the ghosts or rewire the obvious bad wiring?
He and his wife suffer from the same demons, but his is easier to see. Just as the smoker is easy to spot or smell.
NO ONE is exempt- none are perfect! They are each others support system. Every addict has some sort of support system.
Look in the mirror- name your demon(s)- name your support system!
We are all aware that there are reality shows about the obese and that there are Nursing homes that cater to them. I watch them from time to time and I am truly amazed that so many are given quality care and unbelievable opportunity and still remain in a seemingly endless loop of hopelessness.
Also- I am sure that you are know that our tax dollars are spent on all of their associated pathologies. Even drug addicts and alcoholics~ they get disability and/or jail time.
No matter- it is obvious that we are not offering these "addicts" what they really need. BUT- what do they really need?
At any rate- after the holidays, I would like to do a post on addictions and obesity in the health section. I do hope that you join me there to see if we can discuss these problems.
