Be careful what you wish for cretins.
They believe that if everyone was compelled to vote then everyone would be as they are and vote to have a blank check issued in their name.
However DUmbasses, being forced to do something at the point of a government sword may lead people to vote to limit the power that government has over them.
You know, kind of like the founders did after actually experiencing the tyranny you stupidly think will give you a life of ease.
I'm down for mandatory voting, with 4 conditions:
1) in order to register to vote, an applicant must present a state-issued photo ID (free if necessary), must prove they are eligible to vote, and must pass the naturalization exam.
2) When arriving to vote, they must present the SAME state-issued photo ID, and must sign a form affirming that they are still eligible to vote in that polling place (felony perjury and permanent forfeiture of voting rights and gov't benefits for false statement)
3) Income tax withholding is made illegal, and all citizens must write a check for the total amount of tax owed, postmarked between 8 and 15 April
4) Election day is 16 April.
