Title: Popping the question
Post by: A7X_foREVer on May 03, 2012, 08:24:56 PM
In a few weeks it is going to be my girlfriend and my second anniversary so I want to pop the question but do not want to do it the "normal" way I want to make it a memory to last a lifetime any suggestions?

She is scared of flying LOL

Ok, maybe not, then.  I am not really the person to ask.  Not much of a romantic.

<<not a romantic, sorry.

But if I were, I'd pop the question when she's having a rotten, lousy day, so as to cheer her up.

I dunno.

At this moment, I am only replying, to bump your thread.  Frank, I think your idea is great.

Ok, I am responding one more time, in order to get your thread some attention.  My advice would be to just be yourself, and be genuine.  I am sure you will do fine.  Good luck!

I was thinking of saying I think we need to stop dating because I want you to be my lover, best friend and the mother of my children and the only person I want to kiss for the rest of my life.

That sound too lame?

No, it sounds awesome.

I have never been a fan of public proposals.  So, purely my opinion, make it private.

Also, perhaps in a spot where you can visit from time to time for anniversaries and such.

We met at the city park she was bringing her nephew to his baseball practice and I was bringing the kid I am a big brother to also for practice. They played for the same team so we started chatting.

Fast forward to now the boys still play on the same team each year and we are at the park 3 times a week for practice and games so I was thinking after we drop the boys off we go back to retrieve my "little brothers" glove.

That's my master plan O-)

It is if you want to marry her. You had no mention of marriage.

I love the idea of proposing where y'all met! And I wouldn't change a word of what you want to say, except to add "will you marry me?" to the end of it

put the wring in the glove so she can fish it out and while she is fishing it out get on one knee and say what you wanted to say

Do it at Waffle House. May not be romantic, but, rest assured, you'll never forget it.

Covered and smothered, right? Just make sure she uncovers the ring before actual mastication, eh?

Tell her you need to go get the glove.
Go sit on the bleachers for a while after you CAN"T find the glove.
Do the knee thing.
Say what you already thought of.

If the park is empty....
have some glasses and chilled wine/champagne, strawberries and some chocolate in the car trunk in a cooler. (Chocolate dipped strawberries can get soggy, put some Hershey's syrup in a tupperware container to dip strawberries in)

If park is not empty....have them back at home.  :naughty:

The first time I proposed, I did it over the phone from about 600 miles away.

The marriage did not last.  :thatsright:

Learn from my really crappy example, A7.

Post a picture of the ring!

My husband just asked me in the living room of my parents house. I will remember it for the rest of my life. 25 years later, I would do it all over again.  Where and how he asked wasn't as important than the fact that he asked and has been an awesome husband.

Give us a play by play when you get a chance.

Same here. Called from Georgia to Minnesota. I did a second proposal at the spot of our first date. Marriage didn't last but 24 yrs.

I proposed to my wife while we were having an argument, driving to one set of parents (can't remember which set) place on Christmas Eve of 1999, in my old Jeep Cherokee.  The next morning, she realized what had happened.  I dind't have the ring for a while, though (about another year).  I knew pretty much from about the three-month mark of us dating that I had found my future wife.  We'll hit 11 years in June.

I just dropped her off and now I am officially engaged I was not nervous as I thought I was going to be.

Here is how I did it we dropped the boys off and I made a big deal about how Lewis (my little brother) didn't have his glove when he left the field tonight so we had to go back to get it.

Well we got to the park and I asked her to check in the dugout while I checked the bleachers while she was I made a big deal about looking all over the bleachers.

I asked her if she saw it she said no and I then yelled I found it I think and I said boy this place sure brings back some great memories didn't it? She grinned and said yes it did.

I said too bad I think that it was too bad that I just could not date her anymore she said why are you breaking up with me?

I said well not really I got down on my knee and said what I told you all here. I had the ring in the palm of the glove and when I finished she was crying her eyes out and she said she would be proud to be everything I asked her.

On a side bar note Gina and Deb K your suggestions were great and she love them she said she can't wait to join here because everyone here rocks!!

So once again thank you to everyone I am so very greatful and engaged to the best girl in the world :yahoo:
