Kim Jong-il may be paralysed, South Korea's spies say
« on: September 11, 2008, 05:46:54 PM »

Quote
Lee Cheol-woo, the leader of South Korea's parliamentary intelligence committee told a radio station that Kim is "recovering fast", that "he has no problem speaking or communicating and he is able to stand if helped".

Mr Lee would have been briefed on the situation by South Korea's spy agency, which is believed to have the best information network in Pyongyang.

Security services also briefed an emergency meeting on Wednesday called by the South Korean President Lee Myung-bak and said Mr Kim is "currently not in a serious condition", according to the president's spokesman.

Other unnamed government sources told South Korean newspapers that Mr Kim had been operated on by foreign doctors, possibly from China and France, and that he was paralysed on his left side.

Chosun Ilbo, the country's largest daily newspaper, quoted an anonymous senior government official who said: "I understand that he is suffering inconvenience on the left part of his body."

Reports in China also suggested that a group of Chinese doctors had crossed into North Korea last month.

Able to stand if helped = rigor mortis setting in.

So who's little kimmie been grooming to take over after him ?

How well do we know this person, and will we be able to "work" with them better or worse than we can with little kimmie ?

Does he have a son? Surely he's got a new leader already picked out for an occasion such as this.

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

Wonder if anyone has made him any "elevated walkers and bedroom slippers" yet?

But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

I hope He will forgive me when I say that my only thought in this regard is that his successor is less of a whack job than he is.

Hopefully when that little shit dies they can begin to work with South Korea and reconcile.  It's probably too much to hope for...

If he does die it wouldn't come too soon for the world and for South Korea. I never heard mention of him having a child when I was there in South Korea 1987 and there has never been talk of one since then. It's possible there isn't one directly decended from Kim so they may actually have to either name one or elect somebody.

He does have at least two sons, he was married at least twice.  There has in the past been some talk of some jockeying for position in the line of succession so if we are lucky that will destabilise things to much for one of them to be a dictator in the manner of their father.
