Ruth Bader Ginsburg Is The Oldest Supreme Court Justice, But May Not Retire During Trump’s First Term

Hmmm. The virus prorgram on this computer won't let me copy-and-paste from the site; something about a PUP thing. Anyway, the headline says it all.

In a story about the ancient jurist in the Washington Post, there's the revelation that she was a baton-wielding cheerleader in her high school back when William Tecumseh Sherman was around.

A cheerleader? And Brett Kavanaugh got grief for acting juvenile when he was a.....juvenile?

What a double-standard.

Remember that Justices Ginsberg and Scalia were the best of friends. The best friends to have are those who don't share our opinions. That's how we learn things we don't already know.

I do understand how some in the online environment may view politics, and online talk of politics, as just another computer game. Fight one's opponents, build a high score. But remember we're talking about the real world, and treating politics, and America's Political Court, as just another zero-sum game has real consequences.

Does anyone think they want a court with 9 RW Republican Justices? How about a Congress with 435 Republicans and 0 Democratics, and a 100-Republican Senate to go with it?

If so, that person would be no conservative. That would be a totalitarian, the opposite of a conservative. The result would be tyranny.

Or.....it struck me the other day that nineteen months ago, I was told I had six months.

Even the best of medical science is an inexact art; for all we know, the old bat might make it into her 120s.

Oh, but nobody here's suggested we want a Court unanimously Republican, or a Congress unanimously Republican.

It's only that Democrats have run things in this country for so long it's nice to have a change.

I give you the example of the House of Representatives, which was Democrat from before I was born, until I was into middle age.

It's nice, it's really nice, to have a change.

Thanks for the prompt reply, Frank. I know you're well aware of the need for balance in public affairs, just as you are also aware I had no problem with Justice Kavanaugh.

I was speaking more to the malign influence of extremist lowbrow primitives on both sides; both those who would lead the G.O.P. too far to the right, and the so-called "progressives" (socialists) who are the bedfellows of the RW extremist primitives, and who seek to destroy the Democratic Party from within, thinking in their knuckle-dragging socialist primitive way that this will lead "the people" to "revolt". Revolting primitives all around.

Oh, I dunno. The late Senator John McCain seems to have propped himself up, and Justice Ruth Ginsburg is propping herself up as well; neither with any help from "Liberals".

Remember it well. Thought republicans were outlawed.

Republicans are only outlawed by the fascists of the extreme left (the socialists and social-nationalists, who call them "fascists"), and the fascists of the extreme right (the national-socialists, and the milder Teas, who call all but the minority "Freedom Caucus" "Republicans in name only". As if... ...the name of the whole dawg was "Tail".)

The same actors also try to outlaw the Democratics in the same way. Leaving only loud enraged extremists on both ends, and no middle. Their preferred outcome, not mine.

You must be some kind of a dumb ass if you can't see the similarities.  Booth are driven by pure Trump hate.

It's always possible the DemonRats will figure it out and run a moderate like Manchin for President and completely kick our asses by being rational for once...highly unlikely, of course, given that all their most vigorous activity is driven be the most irrational, emotional, and doctrinaire haters and amateur Marats, so it is unlikely a moderate could get any traction in the primaries.

Thanks for your reply, poster Wingnut. Of course I got your point, and was only noting that both the Justice and the late Senator are and were very much their own woman, and man.

While the late Senator had as well his own reasons for his own personal feelings, Justice Ruth was a true close friend (and some would say soulmate, even --Ed.) of the late Mr. Justice Antonin Scalia, and perhaps less likely, therefore, to be set in her ways or an ideologue by nature. (Her public interviews, as well, evidence a quick mind and a mischievous sense of humor. Presense of a sense of humor also speaks toward her being less likely to be the type of humorless ideologue more prone to be a hater anyhow.)

As for myself, anyone at DI can tell you I always defended President Trump, as your American President, and never spoke badly of him** once in over a year.
