Well, for my good news of the day....

I talked with the admissions for Northwood and without saying it straight out, he said I wouldn't have trouble getting admitted into the program I want in.  Plus, I did let it slip that my mom is an alumni as well as the GM where I work.  :)

*phew*  I was sooooo worried that those classes I bombed when I went to UNT many moons ago were going to keep me out.

which program did you pick, baby?

I think I'm going to go with the Automotive Marketing/Management.  The guy that called me today said that once he gets my transcript in, they'll go over what's going to be transferred, etc.

how long until you  finish the program, and what sort of degree will you achieve?

You get a BBA.  I'm excited about it.  The owner of where I work really likes the idea of me taking over for my boss in a few years.

I'm not sure how long it's going to take.  I don't know how much is going to transfer from UNT.  I'm thinking somewhere in the span of 2 to 3 years to finish up.  They do 10 week semesters:  fall, winter & spring, plus there's 3 summer semesters available.

nose to the grindstone, baby.  it's hard to hold down a full time job AND go to school.

I think I'll be able to make it doing 3 classes at a time.  Once this current mess gets cleaned up at work, I should be riding well and might possibly have some study time at work.  *keeping fingers crossed*

9 hours a week in class?  that isn't too terribly bad.

I'm gonna see what it boils down to.  I mean obviously some classes won't be so tough and some will require more study.  If I think I can handle it I'll take more, but I'll probably just start with 3 classes at a time.

Sounds awesome Mia! Good luck to you.

The GM & Owner have said they'll help pay for it, and I didn't ask them my boss told them they were going to help pay for it.  LOL

On another note, I'm currently watching the movie "Spanglish" and I'm surprisingly liking it quite a bit.

hmmm.  where did that idea come from?

My boss knows how much money I make.  She went into the GM's office and told him my idea about going back to school to learn the controllers position and followed it up with "and I want to help pay for it" meaning Metro pay for it.

She said while it's not a known thing, the owner has helped pay for many people to go through college if they were good employees.  Loyalty means a lot at Metro.

as I said, where did THAT idea come from? :uhsure:

I didn't say anything about paying for school.  After she told me, I told her that I was gonna take out loans and I should qualify for some grants or something.

My boss likes me

she must.  you work with some good people, Mia.  they really seem to support you.

(even in your bizarre political tendencies :-) )

one course is usually worth 3 semester hours.  three classes means 9 hours a week.

but that is just a guess.

My boss is a dem, but a moderate not a moonbat.  I'm not sure about the GM, I think he's apolitical.  The Owner, republican.

I work hard and do a good job.  :)

Yeah, I know, but since they do this 10 week semester I wonder if it's more hours per week.

Ahh, I think I've spoiled the Happy Hour thread.   :banghead:

it was sort of a bad angle.

my office is awash in southern miss, dodgers, and packers stuff.

it is truly a "guy" office.
