GRAND RAPIDS -- A shoplifting suspect who was stabbed in the stomach by knives he is accused of trying to steal was expected to have a brief stay in the hospital, police said.

The 26-year-old Comstock Park man hid $300 worth of hunting knives in his waistband at the Knapp's Corner Meijer store, police said. He suffered puncture wounds to his abdomen about 5:40 p.m. Monday when he tried to flee and scuffled with security workers. During the struggle, the suspect fell on the knives, authorities said.

Meijer staff closed the store's north entrance while police and medical responders attended to the man.

"Someone was holding him down, so I just walked around him, grabbed my cart, made sure everything was OK and got out of the way."
 :lmao:
Meijer spokeswoman Stacie Behler said she wasn't immediately certain of corporate policy regarding confronting retail fraud suspects. The safety of customers, staff and the suspected shoplifter are the store's priority, she said.

Let's just hope he doesn't try and sue Meijer's now for his ineptitude. I couldn't help but laugh at the woman who just walked around him, got her cart, and went on her way. You don't mess around when the pop is on sale. :lmao:

Ouch! What a moron!
I can see November 2 from my house!!!

Spread my work ethic, not my wealth.

Forget change, bring back common sense.

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle
