I think the season finale last year ran for an hour and a half, hopefully we get that much this year.  FX grants them some liberties with time, kind of like they did with The Shield.

The "liberties" were great and it's clear the network wants the artist to be as free as possible. However if, like The Shield, the money is still really tight then the schedule and even number of seasons are going to be a wonky unknown for all. Also, if Sutter works like Shaun Ryan, the vision may be there as a whole (some parts clear, some blurry) but the method to the madness seems to be that anything is possible week to week. The writers could be really under the gun from time to time in terms of story line. (Despite Sutters involvement I think you can take that figuratively)

Oh, as to the Son's vs the cops... how bout that dirty cop getting himself shot over a chain of events he could not fathom? Dude. Great drama but so not down with that and I'm just glad it looks like he will live. This mustmust come back and bite the club in the arse and big.

I'd recommend reading Kurt Sutter's blog, I think I posted a link somewhere earlier in this thread.  From what I recall, he's always been very complimentary to FX and the freedom that they grant.  He also explains (without spoilers) that he's very cognizant of the direction he wants the show to take in each season.

It is definitely worth a read.

Thanks for the recommendation, I actually checked it out a little from your earlier link and will do so again. Sutter would know a lot better than I and it's possible F/X is in a lot better shape these days, thanks in part to The Shield but also many other edgy programs. (most I have not seen but am aware of and know to be running multiple seasons)

I was thinking about The Shield commentaries and stories about how season 4 or 5 would be the last, getting mid season extentions and other issues like A-list guest actors and their contracts. I recall Forest Whitaker's character coming to a very abrupt, though satisfying end due contract conflicts. (possibly exacerbated by the writers strike if I recall correctly)

Anyway, I added Sutters blog to my favs. :cheersmate:

On edit:
In case anyone missed it... http://sutterink.blogspot.com/

Who would have thought a professional writer would have a good blog?  :p

Just read this info on the IMDB message board about Chibs...don't know the validity of it, but anyway....

Quote
Chibs Telford is Scottish (Glasgow), lived in Ireland (Belfast). He was a medic in the British Army for five months until court marshaled (for what we don't know). Knickname comes from the scottish word for scar (Chib) - because of his "glasglow grin" (which are real - the actor was mugged and nearly killed). He is the club's original contact to the IRA. He has an estranged wife and child. His estranged wife is now involved with IRA bigwig and soon to be stateside Jimmy O.

Chibs is loyal to Jax, and was the sponsor for Half-Sack to become Prospect.

I think some of this info may have come from the DVD extras, don't really know.

Who was the girl outside the church that Gemma spoke to?  I have seen her before, but I wasn't sure if it was on the show.  It is probably something really deep and symbolic.  Those things usually go right over my head on TV shows.

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0122466/  Found her.  I loved the show The Torkelsons!!!

Is it me, or is Katey Sagal hotter now, than she was twenty years ago?

It's probably because she's not wearing the damn wig that she sported on "Married With Children".

Nahh I think some women just get a lot better looking with age.  Same with some guys.  While others fall apart they just come into their glory later in life.

At least we're talking about hot wimmens.

I'm kind of surprised that none of the CC wimmens made a comment about Jax's nude scene last night.

Speaking of gay... Did you guys see Jax naked!??!?!?!  Holy hot smoking ass on fire!!!!!!1  His body couldn't get more perfect if you framed it and hung it in the Louvre!

I am glad Opie finally pulled his head out of his ass.  I missed a couple of seconds when they nazis were getting ready to warm up a building and I am not sure if they actually offed someone.  I am going to have to rewatch it on On Demand to see.  I knew that judge was going to be a hardass because he plays a hardass in every thing he plays.  I didn't think he would be THAT much of a hardass though.

Darby & Weston and some other of the Hitler brigade torched the Caracara porn studios.  The accountant dude who had his fingers chopped off was asleep in the office, and we don't know if he got out alive or not.

Well, I'd have to say last night's hour & a half extravaganza was excellent viewing.  Perhaps a somewhat expected ending, but still pretty damn good stuff.

If they took a blowtorch to a guy over a tattoo, I can only imagine what Jax and Clay are going to do to Henry Rollins and his crew. It should get ugly.

I was honestly shocked that Gemma told.  I don't know why.  I knew that somehow Jax couldn't go Nomad but I didn't figure on that.  I thought Clay would get gunned down and Jax would have to come back to run the MC.  I have a huge beef though. Could Jimmy O's accent be any more fake!?!?  Holy crap on a stick! :thatsright:  Are there really no Irish actors out there who could have played that part?  Titus Welliver is a great actor (loved him in Deadwood) but he is from freaking Connecticut!

How funny was the mushroom stuff with Tig and Half-sack?  I was freaking rolling!

Piney has me worried.

Why?  Just because he's been out in the woods drinking for weeks?  I know he's a respected elder and all, but I don't know if he has much influence on anyone other than on Jax.

Maybe something about him downing shots of whiskey while staring at his gun?  I think he is going to off himself.

He appears to be thinking about it.  I suspect he knows that Clay had Donna killed.

He definitely knows. He also knows the club if turning to shit and Jax's father had seen it coming. Now he sees it too.

Piney ended up impressing the hell out of me.

Ditto with Opie. Nice to see agent Stahl took down a few pegs. I'm wondering if this turns into her redemption because that will have big doings with how she treats Chibs' family.

I'm wondering if Tig's confession had anything to do with last week's 'shroom trip where he ended up sobbing and crying that he was sorry.

Clay is looking pretty damned marginalized these days.

EDIT: I also noticed Tara and Opie's pr0n chick sitting together and conversating cordially. Let's hope Tara can pick-up a few tricks.
