it's the WE happy hour thread for September 19!!!
« on: September 19, 2008, 06:41:07 PM »

happy hour was a bit boring tonight, so I took off early just so I could hang out with all of you. :-)

it was a great week for me!  my boss was on vacation, I made greyt progress on several big projects,
and basically ran unhindered through a bunch of corporate red tape.  I am sure I will pay for it on monday. :hammer:

oh, and I turned 44 this week.

so, what are y'all up to tonight?

Finishing out the ribs and corn for dinner and then being mundane.

Happy Birthday ole man!!

The fabled "Magnum" b-day no less.

Did you feel lucky?

thanks, pal!

44 is the new 33. :-)

no, it was a normal sunday.  talked to my folks, satisfied myself that my friends in the path of Ike were ok, and went to
a sports bar to watch brett favre and the packers.  I never thought that would ever be on two different TV screens.

all in all, a normal Sunday during football season.

(why does this child hear a band play and start to undress? where does this come from?)

Ahh, I'm home.  All in all today was an okay day.

We went to lunch at Pappadeaux's and I managed to not over eat.  I got the crawfish combination (fried and etouffee) and cause I love them and it was my birthday lunch a fried soft shell crab.

Then we all had the key lime cheesecake I brought in.  Everyone agreed, it was to die for heaven in your mouth delicious.

Also, the co-worker that passed away yesterday, her funeral is tomorrow in Oklahoma.  I'm not going to be able to make it.  I did purchase a very nice plant and it's already been delivered.  The funeral is just a graveside service (there's no viewing and it's closed casket) and it's 2 hours away and a lot of my family is still here from Ike.

I gotta chime in here...

If you had never seen one before and a Lobster crawled out of your toilet or lumbered out from under your sofa, would your first instinct be to look at it thoughtfully and wonder how it would taste with lemon and butter?

Dittos crayfish.

They are the cockroaches of the aquatic world.

And yes I have a mild "Thing" about giant ass bugs, lol.

Yeah, they may the the roach of the sea, but they're damn tasty.   :-)

Yeah they're weird.  There's a lot of cajun food that I eat a lot of (my family is cajun) and I just pretend I don't know what's in it.

Spankings for all those who diss crawfish!  :asssmack:

DOn't knock them until you've tried them.  My Louisiana family loves to have a crawfish boil at least once every season and the seasonings they use make the crawfish very spicy and very tasty.  :-)

Did I tell you about the bug that walked right between my two cats and I ended up killing it?  They never made a move for it.  Stupid cats.

Restaurants are great (we like a local place in Shreveport called Shane's).  But my family prefers to do things the home-made way, and my uncle's 20 acre property has the best set-up for crawfish boils and just having the entire clan there to cook & eat, ride 4-wheelers, and generally just hanging out and drinking beer. (yeah, my family is definitely a bunch of rednecks  :p )

Speaking of beer... *grabs a Blue Moon from the fridge*  :uhsure:

spanking me is useless, of course. :uhsure: :-)

yes, considering the part of the country that I am from, I do put up with cockroach boilings from time to time.  my parents
blame my lack of bug love on the fact that I grew up out of the south (to say the least), but they still have high hopes for
me. :-)
