Never heard of it.  I wouldn't give Ford engineers credit for being that smart.   :-)

The fuel filter might be clogged and the engine is starving for fuel only at idle.

When I got my truck inspected in December the guy at the garage said his did the same,think it was a Chevy pickup.
After a few minutes running unattended it will shut off.

Proabably an emissions thing as much as a forgetfullness issue.
