The above being a typical post. This thread is perfectly illustrative of the sheer laziness of DUmmies, both physically and intellectually. Starting with Pitt's 2 sentence post, urging others to do the heavy lifting for him, the DUmpmonkiez proceeded to be just as lazy as him, saying "libs did everything right and nothing wrong. nt."

Premise two: an acceptable working definition of justice is, "Everyone gets what they deserve." Rational folks can argue until doomsday about the specific meaning of justice and how it applies in various situations, and I hope we do. But as a working definition, something we can use as a starting place on which to build, the notion of justice as fairness will do just fine.
Accept those two premises? OK. Then...
Everyone has a right to justice, because justice itself refers to what everyone deserves. Justice may in fact be seen as the only natural right, because every other natural right can be derived from it.
Since my actions will have consequences, justice dictates that I myself should bear the responsibility for those consequences. As the consequences of my actions belong to me, no one has any business dictating my actions; as long as I am held accountable, I have a right to freedom of choice.
It is manifestly unjust to interfere with any person unless that person's actions might do harm to others. As no one can show how a woman marrying a woman can possibly harm anyone else, no one has any business denying gay marriage.
It is entirely natural for individuals without compunction to take actions which benefit themselves but harm others. We the people, in order to establish a system of justice whereby each of us is held accountable for the harms we do one another, have established a tool called government to write and enforce laws. Absent this system, the law of nature takes over, and the law of nature is that whoever is bigger, stronger, faster or better armed is going to get whatever they want. Absent the laws of man, the law of the jungle takes over. And in the jungle, only the lion is free; everyone else is just food.
It goes on from there. Liberalism is the belief that there is a right to justice coupled with a firm commitment to reality. All else in liberalism flows from this basic principle.
