Meet the newest, smallest, and sleepiest member of the extended DU family. Yes, we had another baby!   

His name is Jack. He was born on Wednesday, July 16. 9 pounds, 8 ounces. 21 inches long. 10 fingers and 10 toes.

Mom and baby are both doing well. His older brother Lucas (now 18 months old) has been great. He's fascinated by his little brother. He loves looking at him and patting his head and saying the words for the different parts of his body.

As you might expect, my wife and I are both pretty busy and pretty tired. I haven't really had much chance to log on to DU since Jack was born. But things are finally starting to settle down a bit so I should be around a little more now. First I have a big backlog of email and private messages to go through. (I hope to get through all of it by sometime tomorrow.)

I can't help but wonder how many abortion David's wife had before these two were allowed to live.  I wonder how adding a new human to the planet meshes with the DU philosophy that any kid is just another carbon-spewing wart on the world. 

I suppose if another little socialist-in-training is cause for celebration, then I guess in some small disagreeable way I can ignore the horror of the situation and agree that perhaps this could be considered an appropriate time to offer the lukewarmest of congratulations.

strange that the blessed event didn't coincide with a donation drive.  it has always seemed like mrs. skinner's cycle operated in harmony with the DUmmies quarterly financial windfall.  or maybe that is just when mr. skinner feels most amorous.
