I`ll get by...there is a brook that runs past the house about 50 yards away and like the old timers took a bucket down to bring back some water for non drinking needs.

dude, buck up.  after katrina, my 78 year old parents were without power for three weeks during an august in mississippi.  it could be worse, is my point.

About this time in 1964 right after I was born there was another ice storm and back then the power was out for almost 2 weeks I am told.

People were in the shop today completely exasperated and besides themselves...we have it easy all things considered and it doesn`t take a lot of money to prepare oneself.

He didn't have broadband before his house was flooded.  His house has been gutted down to the studs.  Now they're waiting for his insurance money to come in so he can fix it up.  I'm gonna take my camera down there and get lots of pics of the damage.

well, to tell a family story, 45 minutes after katrina passed (and she didn't have much of a backside), my dad had my folks' freezers and his directv on, and tuned to foxnews.

Smartly my family evacuated for Rita.  Unfortunately my aunt did not get the 14 lbs of shrimp out of her freezer.  More unfortunately they did not got home for over week (and that was to just clean out fridges and freezers).
