A little-known secret of the media business: we do nothing unless we get paid for it. And what pays the bills is advertising.

Cumulus Media, iirc the second-largest radio network after Clear Channel, is about to dump Rush because advertisers don't want to sponsor him. People know this.
Now consider having to sell this program to stations that are already scheduled around the clock: "We would like you to take whatever you've got scheduled for the three hours in the middle of the day off and replace it with a show with declining Arbitron ratings and no national ad accounts, and that you can't sell locally to anyone except army surplus depots and cigar stores because the host is radioactive." It's not likely he'd find new stations.

Well let's see when he called the slut a slut he lost a couple of advertisers, but they were replaced right away. Carbonite was replaced by I Drive and Pro Flowers by 1800 flowers. Yeah Rush is doomed.  :rotf:

It was just absolutely certain that Limbaugh was gone after Sandra Fluke.

It never happened. Not even close. Even with all of the brouhaha over a couple of advertisers dropping him in the wake of Sandra Fluke, there were others lined up banging on the door to take their place.

Like it or not, he's bringing in the money, and a lot of it. He's making Clear Channel a bunch of money. A bunch of money. They're not going to kill the goose that lays the golden turd.


I'll not hold my breath that he's going away any time soon. Too much past disappointment there.

The fact that it ruins your pathetic lives that Rush is on the air just shows how petty and stupid you are.

What some people do not know is that Rush and Beck have a budget of millions for researchers and Lawyers that insure they get the facts straight and never be wrong.  Every word out of their mouth has been searched with a fine tooth comb. All is scripted and even an off the cuff remark is planned.

This I believe is why I listen to them and know unlike politicians they will not get caught with their foot in their mouth. These two are the modern day Court Jesters that point out the King has no clothing.

I think there's something to that. I've long since come to the conclusion that Muslims, due to their religious beliefs, are meant to be ruled. Like Progs. On the other hand, there are various viewpoints here. We have social conservative/fiscal conservatives, libertarians, social moderate to liberal/fiscal conservative, etc. I don't think there are any social conservative/fiscal liberals here. It's the fiscal and defense that seems to bind us all together, IMO. You guys know I'm not all that socially conservative. My views are hinged on one simple concept, leave me the hell alone.  :-)

Actually Rush is more than likely about to not renew his contract with WABC because their GM is blaming Rush for the lack of performance by WABC's sales staff. Rush is tired of being the scapegoat for the stations poor local sales revenue.

So when his contract with WABC (which is seperate from his syndication deal with Premiere) expires he's gonna move to the Clear Channel owned WOR.

If that idiot GM at WABC thinks his ad revenue sucks right now...wait till his sales reps don't have Rush to offer local advertisers. WOR is going to see a huge windfall from this. p

You're an idiot! He has a bazillion dollars. Why the hell would he lower himself? The man never has to work another day in his life if he chose not to. He does it because he loves it...tweaking you guys is the frosting on the cake. If one distributor decided (stupidly from a business stand point) to drop him he wouldn't be able to take a breath before the others would be on the phone wanting to sign him up. But keep believing it because once again we'll be able to laugh and revel in your sadness and disappointment!

Rush could probably get his own program on FOX is he wanted it.  His tea has gotten pretty popular too, but I think the proceeds of that all goes to charity.

I know, he could run for some high ranking office, wouldn't that frost their butts?  :-)

WOR is awesome! they got John Gambling back again after he went to WABC a few years ago, and they got Mark Simone from WABC, his show is in a great time slot 10AM-12N, and like tx said, if anything Rush won't renew with WABC and will most likely go to WOR and they'll be glad to have him. WABC has gone downhill since Phil Boyce left, and between signing Imus and Geraldo? their ratings are in the tank, while WOR is moving closer and closer to conservative talk radio. Another awesome addition WOR made was Rita Cosby in the afternoon from 4PM-6PM and a young kid named Andy Dean from 6PM-8PM who totally rocks! Also heard a rumor that Sean was thinking about leaving WABC.

IIRC, there was one sponsor who dumped him over his "slut" comment regarding Sandra Fluke.  Carbonite, IIRC.  And their revenues after that went to warm runny crap.
