(ETA: This has been cross-posted to current.com!)

Found this via WCPT's Facebook page. Also available via the University of Cincinnati Library (http://digproj.libraries.uc.edu:8180/luna/servlet/detail/CORNELL~9~1~78217~3265:Labor-Day-1956--Young-Republicans-S).

And back then the GOP platform that successfully re-elected Dwight Eisenhower also included such SOCIALIST! STATIST! BIG GOVERNMENT! language such as:

"A continuously vigorous enforcement of anti-trust laws"

"Assure equal pay for equal work regardless of Sex"

"Revise and improve the Taft-Hartley Act so as to protect more effectively the rights of labor unions, management, the individual worker, and the public"
210

How do you like this actual democrat party poster?

"I sat down, and I said, 'America's back' and Mitterrand from Germany — I mean from France — looked at me and said … "Well, how long are you back for?"

Here is another blast from the past.  From the democrat governor of New York and 1868 presidential nominee from the democrat party Horatio Seymour.

Ah yes, the 1950s.  The liberals dream time.   They are the never existed, Leave it to Beaver, times when they want to stare down their statist nose at conservative values.  You know the old values, where you didn't necessarily have to worry if your door was locked, and didn't worry about letting  your kids walk to their friends house a mile a way.

Then they turn around and idolize the 1950s for the period of strong middle class growth and strong union membership.  The rest of the world was still trying to dig itself out of the rubble of WWII.  The UAW and Detroit hadn't started building cars that fel apart at 100K miles to make people by new cars yet.  Unions weren't demanding things that could never be paid in the 1950s.  Their economic vision of the 1950s is even more romantic than they claim our vision is.  Liberals view US History from inside a bubble.
There comes a time when even good men must run up the black flag of anarchy and slit throats. - H.L. Mencken
