Dealers Still Waiting For Clunker Cash

Dealers Still Waiting For Clunker Cash

Auto makers will release their monthly sales reports Tuesday and they're expected to show the first year-to-year increase since 2007.  While the Cash for Clunkers program is getting all the credit, local car dealers are still waiting for their cash.

During the month long program, Billion Automotive sold close to a thousand vehicles but has only been reimbursed for 272 of them.  Vern Eide sold over 200 cars and has only been paid for 27 of them, and that's fueling lots of concerns in the auto industry.

Billion Automotive cashed in during Cash for Clunkers, but owner Dave Billion is still waiting for the rest of his money from the government run program, $3.2 million.

"I wonder how long they'd wait if I owed them $3.2 million.  I think they'd be at my door or at least my banker's door," Billion said.

Imagine that...another poorly planned scheme from the dimrats in DC.   :whatever:

Shocker!!!

The local news ran a similar story the week that this was ending and they showed reams and reams of paper that still needed to be processed by dealers. The computer system that they were using to submit claims to the govt was basically D.O.A. and completely overwhelmed to the point of them having to put the applications aside for later entry.
I can see November 2 from my house!!!

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

Someone on YouTube was crowing about how successful the CfC program was.  I brought up this issue and they dismissed it with a "yet" excuse.

I wonder if the IRS will adopt this policy and let us be late with tax payments.  Oh wait, that only applies to Uncle Ego's cabinet members.   :banghead:

This is what happens when people, in this case the dealers, trust the damn federal government.

I truly do not understand the hold up. I talked to our local Ford dealer just last week when we bought a used Jeep. He told me they actually had better vehicles, but because of CFC, they HAD to disable them. SOB, what a good frikkin' idea! Disable perfectly viable vehicles in ordser to satisfy O'Bummer's need to satisfy his Greenie following.

Now that the programs over, car sales are going to go into the tank again. The guy I talked to said as much. O'Bummer can't keep this up without sending us into double digit infaltion. He can't keep paying of the unions and everyone else that donared money in order to get his empty suit into the WH!

We're headed down the toilet, and I'd venture to say he knows it! I truly believe this is what he wants. The more "down and outs" he can get on the government tit, he believes he will be able to pass more of this BS he calls stimulus.
I'm the guy your mother warned you about!

On the radio today, I heard an interview with a dealer who submitted a form, had it rejected, submitted the exact same form again, had it rejected again, etc.  Did this 4 or 5 times, I think, and the feds ultimately accepted it.  Go figure!  Then there's the interview of another dealer where he said he's waiting for millions in older funds, but got paid for more recently submitted forms.  That one makes me think the feds are trying the lame tactic of fulfilling more recent funds in order to attempt to appease dealers who are waiting for older funds.

The news is kind of scattered around, but a brief synopsis.  Honda, Toyota, and Ford all saw sales increases in August 2009, over August 2008.  GM and Chrysler both saw sales decline from the previous year. They both claim a lack of inventory on dealers lots caused the sales decline, but the dealers here still have plenty of cars on their lots.  :whatever:

Oh!  Anyone have the list of the top cars bought with this program?  I think 4 of the top 5 were foreign cars.

Thanks, man.  My memory was fuzzy, but I knew there were an inordinate number of foreign cars on the list.

I have no problem with that since many of them were made in America, just not by union workers. :)  I do think it is highly ironic that a planned designed to help Detroit, failed miserably in doing so.  Yet, we still hear the left crowing about the success of C4C. Sure it was successful if hurting future car sales, both new and used was their goal.
