LANCASTER, Pa. — Update (6:12 p.m.): Police say one person was fatally shot by an officer this afternoon in Lancaster City.

According to officials, around 4:15 p.m., officers responded to the scene of a reported domestic disturbance in progress on the 300 block of Laurel Street.

The deceased male was reportedly armed with a knife at the time of the shooting, police say.

More unrest, this time in Lancaster. It is breaking news.

Someone runs at you with a knife and you shoot them.

Now the question becomes; was the cop white?  Was the victim black?  If the shooter was a cop and it was a black man, that's all you need for a riot and it doesn't matter if the cop was white or black, but if it was a white cop ... it gets ugly faster.

This is getting so ridiculous.  These rioters need to find better poster children.  George Floyd wasn't a good person.  Jacob Blake was NOT a good person.  This guy today was chasing a cop with a rather large knife, I don't think that speaks very highly of him as to being a good person.

His attorney will probably say the knife was actually dull and shouldn't have been considered a credible threat.

This stuff is the same song different verse.  There are simply bad people in the world and when they reap the consequences of their actions there should be no outcry.

I've had people tell me if someone broke into my house I shouldn't have the right to shoot them.  Can you imagine living in a world where people can do whatever they want with no consequences?  I feel the same way about all the padding parents put on kids when they ride skateboards and bikes.  If you don't pad them up they learn that falling down hurts, but when you pad them up like that it doesn't so they keep trying bigger things until they find something that REALLY hurts them.

Pennsylvania judge sets bail for accused rioters at $1M each
https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/pennsylvania-judge-sets-bail-for-accused-rioters-at-1m-each

Quote
Several individuals accused of rioting in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, after the police shooting of Ricardo Munoz have had their bail set at $1 million.

Of the nine who were given that bail amount, none were able to post it.

Twelve adults have been charged with criminal conspiracy for arson, riot, institutional vandalism, failure to disperse, obstructing highways and other public passages, disorderly conduct, and defiant trespass. Nine of them had their bails set at $1 million. One of the 12 faced an additional charge of illegal possession of a firearm. According to police, at least eight of those charged are not Lancaster residents.

Good. Rioters should be treated harshly.

Quote
The group tweeted, "The absurdly high bail amounts indicate that what we’re seeing is not a measured pursuit of justice but a politically motivated attack on the movement for police reform and accountability."

Protesters have taken to the streets in Lancaster over Munoz's death. The 27-year-old was shot by an officer after he ran toward the officer with a knife. Police said that the officer was responding to a call from Munoz's mother, who claimed her son was trying to break into her house. The family said that Munoz had been suffering from schizophrenia.

Lancaster protester’s dad calls $1 million bail ‘vindictive’
https://nypost.com/2020/09/16/father-of-lancaster-protester-calls-1-million-bail-vindictive/

Quote
The father of the sorority girl busted on arson and riot charges in Lancaster, Pa., slammed her $1 million bail as “vindictive” — but said he didn’t blame police for taking action amid the “nasty scene.”

Chip Patterson said it’s clear that authorities are trying to send a message to protesters like his daughter, Kathryn, who was among 13 people busted around 3 a.m. Monday on a slew of charges related to riots outside the Lancaster police station.

“[I’m] completely floored. It’s really just vindictive,” Chip told The Post. “You want to have faith in the system because it’s the only one we have and then you experience this. I understand why my daughter would protest in the first place.”

But he later conceded, “I understand the police building itself was damaged and it was a nasty scene. I don’t blame them for taking action.”

 :bs:  :sosad:

Quote
Kathryn, along with her friend Taylor Enterline, who was also allegedly working as a “medic” that night, was identified as a “main instigator and participant in promoting this behavior and was seen actively throwing listed items at police, failing to disperse when ordered, and/or adding items to the fire in the street,” police alleged in the affidavit.

She and Enterline, 20, were arrested about a block away from the station, the record says.

Alaak Deu was with the two young women when they were arrested and told Lancaster Online that police jumped out of a van, guns drawn, and arrested the pair. He claimed Kathryn and Enterline, who are part of civil rights group Green Dreamz, remained peaceful all night.

WALSH: Lancaster Solved Its Rioting Problem In One Day. Here’s How They Did It.
https://www.dailywire.com/news/walsh-lancaster-solved-its-rioting-problem-in-one-day-heres-how-they-did-it

Quote
This was shaping up to be another week of rioting and chaos in an American city. It was Lancaster, Pennsylvania this time, home to Amish villages, cornfields, and other rural attractions. Rioters descended on the town on Sunday night, pillaging, looting, burning, and doing all of the other things we have come to expect, in response to the police shooting of a man who was chasing after an officer while wielding a knife. But then something we have not come to expect: almost as soon as it had started, the rioting stopped.

The next night of protests was small and for the most part peaceful (really peaceful, not “peaceful” in the way the media has come to use the word). If there have been any protests since Monday, we haven’t heard much about them. Things seem to have quieted down in Lancaster. Order rapidly reemerged from the chaos. Contrast this with places like Portland or Seattle, which saw mass anarchy for months on end. Riots plagued Kenosha and Minneapolis for weeks.

Why was Lancaster so lucky? Why isn’t it the next Kenosha or the new Portland?

Why Lancaster did not become another Minneapolis, Portland, or Kenosha.

Quote
1. The Lancaster Police Department released the body cam footage of the incident within hours. We didn’t have to wait days or months to see if the narrative from the protesters was actually true, as we did with George Floyd and other high-profile police shootings. Granted, the radical branch of the “protesters” don’t much care about the accuracy of their narrative — truth is an irrelevant detail in their worldview — but it certainly doesn’t help when the false narrative goes entirely unchallenged for weeks on end.

2. The police showed up in force on the first night of the protests. Rioters were given a few warnings to disperse before tear gas was deployed. Rubber bullets were also used against the rioters as they began to hurl bricks and other projectiles at law enforcement. One protester, sadly for him, took a rubber bullet to the groin.

3. Police aggressively pursued those who committed crimes throughout the night. Officers in marked police vans chased down the criminals, swiftly arrested them, and carted them off to jail.

4. Here is perhaps the most important part. The arrested rioters were charged with multiple felonies and kept in jail on bails set at up to 1 million dollars. As of Wednesday, at least seven of the accused arsonists and vandals are still in jail, unable to pay the hefty bond.

Judge Lowers $1 Million Bail for Lancaster Protesters Following Pressure
https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2020/09/17/judge-lowers-1-million-bail-for-lancaster-protesters-following-pressure/

Quote
A judge has lowered the bail for several protesters arrested in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, following criticism from Black Lives Matter activists and progressive leaders.

Thirteen individuals, including one juvenile, were arrested as a result of the unrest in Lancaster on Sunday night into early Monday morning. Charges included “Criminal Conspiracy for Arson, Riot, Institutional Vandalism, Failure to Disperse, Obstructing Highways and Other Public Passages, and Disorderly Conduct and Defiant Trespass,” according to the Lancaster Bureau of Police.

Arrestees included Talia Gessner, 18; Taylor Enterline, 20; Kathryn Patterson, 20; Yoshua Dwayne Montague, 23; Jamal Shariff Newman, 24; T-Jay Fry, 28; Dylan Davis, 28; Lee Alexander Wise, 29; Barry Jones, 30; Matthew Modderman, 31; Jessica Marie Lopez, 32; Frank Gaston, 43; and one juvenile, 16.

So wrong at all levels. The judge should stick to their guns.

Quote
Organizers set up GoFundMe campaigns for some of the protesters, including Patterson, a student at Franklin & Marshall College, and Lee Alexander Wise, a transgender woman who organizers say is being held in the male section of a prison.

The Lancaster Patriot, a forthcoming “weekly conservative print newspaper covering Lancaster County,” shared a video on Twitter of what it said was a crowd “marching toward what they thought was Judge Roth’s address to intimidate him”:

This is video of protesters on Tuesday night marching toward what they thought was Judge Roth's address to intimidate him. Today he lowered bail for several of the rioters arrested Monday. pic.twitter.com/asMWuPyKCh
