It's official! Pope Francis announces 2015 visit to US

Quote
Pope Francis on Monday officially announced that he will visit the U.S. in September 2015, including a visit to the World Meeting of Families in Philadelphia.

“I wish to confirm, if God wills it, that in September of 2015 I will go to Philadelphia for the Eighth World Meeting of Families,” he announced at Vatican City's Synod Hall Nov. 17 during his remarks at an international colloquium on the complementarity of man and woman.

The Philadelphia World Meeting of Families will take place from Sept. 22-27. Even before the Pope's announcement, the meeting was expected to draw tens of thousands of people. Archbishop Charles J. Chaput of Philadelphia had told a gathering of Catholic bishops last week that a papal visit would likely result in crowds of about 1 million.

A global Catholic event, the world meeting seeks to support and strengthen families. St. John Paul II founded the event in 1994, and it takes place every three years.

Is it wrong to hope that he doesn't meet with Obama?

Unfortunately, he is also a head of state, so protocols apply.

The Catholics including the once vaunted Notre Dame are some of the most culpable for getting owebuma into office.
Just like during WWII the Catholic church has trouble identifying enemies of the faith, and of humankind.

I've never understood how anyone claiming to be Catholic, Christian or even Morman can support abortion.  I know they cloak their support in terms of a "woman's right to choose", but it is still murder.

I can't speak too much for the others, but for the Catholics there's a very good reason the phrase "cafeteria catholic" was coined.

But that is ignoring a huge part of any religion, the sanctity of life.

Whoa...  ...hold up there. As in any other religion, there are two kinds of Catholics - there are faithful practicing Catholics, and there are CINO's (Catholics In Name Only).

No faithful practicing Catholic such as myself would vote for a pro-abortion pro-gay-marriage president. But the CINO's would, and did.

If you could dig deep into stats, you'd find that by and large, the Catholics who go to Church every Sunday and are serious about their faith did NOT vote for Obama.

I can't speak too much for the others, but for the Catholics there's a very good reason the phrase "cafeteria catholic" was coined.

Yep, that was the favorite phrase du jour for a while. Now I like CINO better.

They should have been excommunicated long ago.

..............Pope Francis better not side with O.

Popes do not "side" with anybody. They preach the Gospel. Usually that makes both sides hate them for different reasons. If everybody hates you, that usually means you are on the right track.

I'm not sure I can agree with that assertion. Look at Mary, Joseph, and all the Apostles including Paul, but not Judas. They never hated Jesus for what he preached.

And of course, not "everybody" hates the Pope either. I sure don't. That was a little exaggeration on my part. I think you know what I meanmt.

I don't like the assumption that "both sides do it" and are equally guilty.
I think it's intellectually dishonest.
It's the owebuma side that hates people for clinging to the guns, their God, their bible and their religion.
All have sinned and fallen short of the glory, that is for sure.
But on the whole conservatives try harder to not sin, are more repentant when they do, and overall better people than the libs.

Dude, I am the ARCH Conservative. I was not drawing some moral equivalency between the Left and the Right. I was stating a fact: Both sides find reasons to dislike Popes. Of course I believe Conservatives are morally superior to liberals or else I would be one.  But be that as it amy, what I said is still true.

I have been in Christian forums full of rightwing conservatives who call the Pope the Antichrist and called me all sorts of vile names for being a Catholic, so I know well of what I speak.  Evangelicals and Fundamentalists may be good voters in the voting booth, but religiously they are among the most bigoted and hateful towards Catholics. I know.

Hi Terry, glad you are here.

I used another name on one of those forums that I called, "gay operative", a forum that promoted itself as a "CONSERVATIVE" forum but allowed liberals to overrun at times. The powers that be on there allowed bigots to draw you into arguments then dropped the hammer on you.

I hope to read more from you here.

For those here that are unfamiliar with Terry, he has very strong beliefs and opinions BUT is a VERY STRONG CONSERVATIVE.

Again, nice to see you Terry.

Are Popes like Baptist preachers....come for dinner on Sunday and eat up all the fried chicken?

I'm Methodist, we get out of church a half hour early so we can beat the Baptist to the restaurant.

I have often threatened to publish a study of religions based on how the congregation fills the seats of the sanctuary.

It woul be like having a president come over. You'd also have to feed the staff, security, and the press.

That's a lot of fried chicken.

I have already been and gone by the time the Methodists get there!

What's the difference between a Baptist and a Methodist?

The Methodist will say hello to you at the liquor store.

After the Baptist minister concluded his remarks about the evils of alcohol and how every bit of it should be taken to the river and dumped in, he called upon his music minister to lead the congregation in song.
At which point the music minister asked the congregation to join him in a rousing rendition of...Shall We Gather At The River.

Ok lets tell some religious jokes.

Man saw a kid selling kittens, he was shouting, "Baptist kittens for sale, Baptist kittens for sale." He took a look at them. Next day man saw the same kid selling kittens. He was shouting, "Methodist kittens for sale. Methodist kittens for sale." Man took a look at the kittens and asked the boy, "Aren't those the same kittens you were trying to sale yesterday?" Kid answered, "Yes sir." Man asked the kid what the difference was between yesterday and today. The kid answered, "Well today they have their eyes open."

If Terry is who I think that he is, you are correct.

One has to go to a REAL Conservative site to get away from such PC liberal/commie/democrat coddling mods, huh? Especially the mods that go out of their way to break their own rules against Conservative posters just so they can ban them when they call them out on it. They should work for the DNC.
