Spain's greatest golfer. An icon. An inspiration. These are just some of the tributes flooding in for Severiano, or Seve, Ballesteros, following the news of his death.
The announcement came on Spanish television, TVE, early on Saturday.
The Ballesteros family soon confirmed in a statement that the golfer had died at 0210 (0010 GMT), surrounded by relatives, at home in Pedrena, northern Spain.
He had been fighting brain cancer for two-and-half years, in what he himself called "the biggest battle of my life, my 6th major". ...

A classy guy on the course, and a real gentleman.
RIP, Seve.

Damn. :(
Godspeed, sir.

Great golfer and had the respect of many for his character.

I enjoyed watching him play. A happy go lucky guy always with a smile on his face. RIP

Rest in peace, Seve.
EVERYONE loved Seve. It's not like that with many golfers. Choi, other than a few dumbass rednecks who think, "ay, what's dis chink doin' in ower spowert", is the same way.
Actually, there's a funny story about that. K.J. goes to church here on Sunday during the Masters. He spoke at Warren Road Baptist about his finding Christ back in '04 when he Eagled a hole from the middle of the fairway and the crowd fell in love with him, not due to his conversion, but he's just a likeable guy. During the Masters, some "out-a-towners" made a similar remark up above and pretty much got blessed out by a lot of the locals who were lifelong badge-owners.
