So, I went to Walgreen's for my "free" flu shot last night....

and was told that BCBS of Arizona doesn't cover the shot....only BCBS of NC, Iowa and some other state that I cannot remember.

WTF?

They said that I could still get my "free" flu shot for $29.99.

What a bunch of BS.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x9372788

that is BS and you know what else is BS I had to pay for groceries at Publix last night and later today I have to pay for an oil change in my truck. Oh the horror.

13. Nothing in life is "free"

Someone has to pay for it somewhere along the line.

I got my free flu shot Tuesday afternoon. I have insurance and it didn't matter a bit. It was free to all employees and $21 reduced price to family members. My employer paid for it.

You see DUmmies, it's cheaper to pay for us to get vaccinated than it is to risk us all having an outbreak to share and going down over a 2 week period and losing the productivity. Yep, it might be in their best interests to keep us working but if they don't stay in business then I don't have a job. Unlike you typical DUmp denizens I work for a living and don't expect anyone to take care of me, ever.

Exactly.  The employer pays for the shot, not the insurance company you dolt.

We give em free every year.  In a 24x7 business, we can't afford people to get sick.

BCBS doesn't pay for flee shots?

My employer offers free flu shots for employees and family members, but I've yet to get one, and I haven't missed work unlike some that do get the shot.  :-)

Hell, not only does my employer offer free shots, it is my job to get everyone scheduled and corralled into our auditorium to get them.  And I don't get them either.   :-)

If and when I do get sick during the winter, it only lasts  2-3 days, with only 1 day being really bad.

Same here. My last employer did that for it's employees. I never got one and never got the flu neither. Lucky, I guess! :cheersmate:

I used to get sick several times every winter. When I was smoking every 2-5 years one of the illnesses went pneumonic. I was ordered to start getting flu shots every year or I was going to die. I've missed a couple of years since then and sure enough I've gotten sick, didn't die though but it convinced me to get that shot.  :-)

Haven't had a flu shot in YEARS.  When the winter flu bug rolls around, I usually get the sore throat, cough, and runny nose.  Those symptoms are typically not enough for me to stay home.

I never get one either, after being held down and forced to get them as a kid.

I never get one either, after being held down and forced to get them as a kid.

In the second grade we were all lined up to get our Polio (I think) shots.  This was in '55 when they had did not have disposable syringes.  They little girl in front of me was screaming, crying, and struggling, the needle broke in her arm. I remember the doctor muttering and the nurse handing him a new syringe and telling don't move or it would hurt worse.  I did not move, I was petrified.

I seem to be in the same boat as Randy, I have less problem when I get the shot.   But each to his own.  When I was younger I never got them largely because I had an adverse reaction to the original swine flu shot in the '70s.  Then too, when I was sick I had paid sick leave so I just stayed home.

I've had a simple cold turn into pneumonia.  Sucks!

I don't get the flu shot either.  The last time I got the flu it was the H1-N1 (swine flu) that I got last fall, and yes, it turned into pneumonia.  Before that I think I was in High School.  When I used to get the shot I was always sick for a couple days after, so now I just take my chances, and so far I've been pretty lucky.

I got the flu back in 2005 I think. That was the first time I had gotten since I was little. And it seemed mild to me. I had to miss a week of work which sucked because I work on a day rate, but I didn't feel all that bad. Just had fever.

I did have the flu shot when I was pregnant. But we are all getting one this year. I don't want to chance it for my little girl. If I am sick, I stay home so as not to infect the world, but I'd hate to infect my baby girl. And I am not afraid of needles, so why not.

F :censored: Ouch. I was 10 when I had my last flu shot. I threw a screaming fit and my dad held me on his lap and made me get it anyway.

I'm scheduled to get my shot, via NYS (my employer), in a week or so.  Because of NYS' money crunch, we've got to cough up $20 for it. :censored:

The Heiress got the flu mist last Thursday at her doctor, when my wife took her for her 3-year-old checkup.  She did well, but was running a 102-degree (later up to 103) fever last night and this morning.  Looks like I'll pull the duty tomorrow, as my wife's office is a zoo with one week to go before the elections.  I didn't have much to do anyway.

When I was pricing Flu Vaccine to purchase, the best price I found was $72 for a 10 dose vial.  That is the purchase price.  Now, throw in a syringe, a licensed, certified person to give the shot, a Bio-waste container to get rid of (most likely the most expensive part of the who deal), and then there is of course all the paper work that you have to take care of.  $30 bucks is most likely close to breaking even.  Walgreens  wants you in the store to buy stuff and give you coupons for transferring RX's to the store.
You see, I don't care you how feel.  I really don't.  More importantly, neither does anyone else.  Only about 200 people on a planet of 7 billion actually care about your feelings, and that's if you're lucky.  The sooner you grasp this lesson, the better off you will be.  And since almost no one gives a damn what you do, say, think, or feel, appealing to your feelings when you encounter differences of opinion is not only illogical, but useless.

Not sure.
