 I really don't get it. So much energy expended here to read and tear down, read and detract, read and deny, read and dismiss, read and disregard, read and dump, read and do some damage, if any actual reading ever took place in the first place.

Doesn't that seem like a waste? What's the point? Why not look for something of interest and agreement or contribute to discussion and even disagreement in a constructive way?

Why use DU -- with all it great potential -- as a punching bag and funnel to force pettiness into?

Don't get it.
