AN EXTREMELY LIBERAL THREAD! (You may not be liberal enough to enter)
This is the most liberal thread you will ever read. Come prepared to say the most liberal things you can possibly say. It is an exercise in unrestrained liberalism!

And I will start us off with the most liberal statements I can possibly come up with.

1. All Americans should receive comprehensive Health Insurance paid for by their federal government by a tax on the wealthy and on any corporation that does business with our consumers.

2. Any American that needs food (with income less than $26,700.00 for individuals, $42,950.00 for a family of four) should receive enough food stamps every week to eat until they vomit paid for by a tax on the wealthy and corporations that have a certain amount of profits in the United States.

3. There should be no laws governing who can marry whom.

4. Clean needles and condoms should be available to the public and even to high school children.

5. Cap and trade legislation should promote green jobs and technologies while placing strict limits on carbon emissions that are not negotiable.

6. There should be no limit to the length of time a person may qualify for unemployment benefits.

7. Corporations that move jobs overseas should be taxed 10%- $1,500.00 for every $15,000.00 in wages they send overseas- and the funds go to the unemployment bank (which will be created). And it should be illegal to prevent unions in any way.

8. Social Security age of eligibility should never be above 62 years of age. (Medicare should adjust its age of eligibility to 62 years of age until universal care passes.)

9. There should be no laws preventing lawsuits or the amount the suit can be for; let the courts decide since we have separation of powers.

10. Taxes on the wealthy will be raised until the national debt is paid in full. They get rich using our country's resources so they should pay all of the bills. Poor people should not be taxed because they do not profit from America, nor do they get any equity here in most cases.

11. War- who needs it. We should immediately end all involvement in conflicts that are not on our soil.

This is just the beginning.

1. Agreed - but add this one "All drugs shall be legalized"
Edited on Mon Oct-26-09 08:21 PM by Taverner
And yes, I mean ALL drugs

You can argue all day that Heroin and Crank are dangerous and I will agree with you, but tell me what good does prohibition do? None. All it does is leave a monopoly vacuum for organized crime to fill.

30. but the funny thing is, that doesn't change the rightness of any of those suggestions....
Even if the OP is a troll, he or she made god sense. Even if they didn't mean to. I'm happy with the OP, and won't lose sleep worrying about the DUer's motives.
And after they figure it out, they start a new thread:

Because we are not all equal
I read the "most liberal post ever" believing it was for real until I read further in the thread. I thought it was real, because in principle, I believe much the same things that were listed. I even like the songs "Aquarius" and "Good Morning Starshine", so sue me. Yes, eat till they vomit should have tipped me off, but the rest of it seemed positive.

I believe that social programs like food stamps, affordable housing, decent medical care, good education and living wages are so important to the well-being of everyone because as a country we are supposedly "created equal".

How can we be equal when a child in one family is homeless, or one kid is hungry or hurting with a toothache? How can that kid ever even hope to be equal to kids who were just lucky enough to be born into more fortunate circumstances?

So yes, I am a liberal. I believe social programs "promote the general welfare" and in fact, offer everyone a better chance for contributing to a strong society.

And if that makes you want to call me crazy, or makes you hear the song "Aquarius" playing in the background, well, there you are, I won't apologize for feeling this way.
Are we there yet?

1. I also took that other post seriously.
Should have read more carefully, I guess.

But as you said, most of what was on there made sense. If the OP didn't really believe it themselves, what does that change?
We've been had.

3. Apparently, it was a troll.
But with few exceptions their post advocated good policy.

The OP was evidently too stupid or mean-spirited to realize that what they were mocking was good.
We've been had.

They're just singing in the shower...

by the way banned by their idol Hugo Chavez who now says to limit your showers to 3 minutes and don't use hot water. He will also be cutting off power to some malls. Because the Venezuela government has sucked the power company dry and has allowed no real investment in that sector for about a decade.

Of course he blames the people of Venezuela for the shortages.

Oh and the DUmmies are... "I'm too liberal for your shirt.... too liberal for your blame..... so liberal it hurts."

...Clean needles...

:wtf2:

Seriously, for diabetics, sure...but I don't think that's what the OP is referring to.

Ya know, I agree with this "all drugs" posturing! Hell maybe if they all get high, it will be easier to take back the country! Hell, we could tell 'em what day to go to the polls and they would believe it, or they'd be too stoned to vote in the first place. If they get high enough on their "legal drugs", they'd be in a stupor too ****ed up to get to the polls anyway!

1. All Americans should buy their own healthcare coverage, whether this be insurance, membership plan, MSA or nothing. Paid for by themselves with no taxes, limits or subsidies.
2. Any American that needs food should either buy some, grow some, call friends and family, call the Salvation Army, their local church and then and only then ask for a short-term, one-time restricted (no junk food etc) stipend from the state government.
3. Anybody can marry anybody and no-one, no business, no government agency etc shall be force to recognize them or be forced to give consideration because of it. Marriages are things done by churches - not judges - and "marriage contracts" are written and approved by those being married. No government involvment at ALL.
4. Government has no business distributing anything like needles and condoms, which are available at every corner pharmacy. Furthermore government shall not own or operate schools and any funding shall come from the state government where it sees fit or not. It may even give stipends for homeschooling without regard to the content of that homeschooling,.
5. Government has no business taxing or subsidizing or restricting business activity.
6. Government shall not take from one person or business who is working and giving it to them that, while abled bodied refuse to work. Workers, if desired, may fund their own unemployment fund tax free.
7. Government shall not restrict nor encourage companies from moving within or without the country, they are free to seek a better business climate.
8. Since people are funding their own retirement, there is no set age or mandated retirement age.
9. Lawsuit awards shall be for actual damage plus a small percentage for punitive or alms of the "victim". Loser pays.
10. Taxes shall be flat from the first dollar for all Americans. Debt spending shall be outlawed.
11. All American citizens of good character shall be encouraged to own a gun and to take part in the civil defense of the nation. America shall aid nations that are friendly and share our values however it can. All military service shall be voluntary but all able-bodied men of seventeen shall be considered part of the militia, women on a voluntary basis, whether they take part or not.

Maybe we can just get them high enough to think that they should vote on the wrong day. :evillaugh:

All drugs legal for the week prior to election day, starting the day all income taxes are due.

Pretty good,  how much do you think that I can clear sitting at home on my butt doing nothing?  Especially like the part about taxing coporations.  Does this idiot know who pays all the bills that a coporation has?

You know, in some countries they only eat vomit.  I never been there, but I read about it, in a book.

Your list is the BOMB.  Only one disagreement, that debt should be illegal - if a company is stupid enough to offer credit that is their business, but it should be their choice. wouldn't you say?
