House Democrats in Conflict Over Trump Impeachment

Quote
From the article:

While Democratic leaders in the House of Representatives set forth their vision for what they want to accomplish next year, impeachment of President Donald Trump does not seem to be on the agenda. However, many of their supporters and donors are not happy about that, and want the House to start impeachment proceedings shortly after taking control in January.
As they anticipate being in power, House Democrats have been discussing their plans to keep campaign promises on such programs as:

1) Spending on public works projects,
2) Lowering health care costs and
3) Increasing government oversight.

In my view, calls for impeachment are premature.

First, investigate every aspect of Trump's finances, and his businesses.

Second, allow Robert Mueller to do his work.

If impeachable offences are found, that would be the time to discuss remedies.

9. Mixed feelings about impeachment

pro: get rid of the scumbag traitor tax evader as soon as possible (but get Pence as prez)

con: drag it out for two years, all the dirty laundry, with an eye toward swinging the 2020 election more towards the Dems (but risk letting the madman keep office)

10. Welcome to DU.

Number 2 would allow the Democrats to slowly release the truth about Trump, while Mueller could proceed with his investigation.

14. Steady as she goes ...

No rush. Be "the adults in the room." Expose the corruption first. Convince the population so they can inform their representatives. When said representative begin to note the alarm from constituents, then the time is approaching. The American people MUST be in on this, whatever happens. Resignation is a lot more attractive for maintaining our body politic. But Impeachment must always be in the Waiting Room.

still nothing to report...

Unfortunately, that's not a sword that most conservatives and constitutionalists IN POWER would ever wield. This is what the Deep State is counting on.

It's a close call, but I do not think House Ds are so utterly stupid as to try to impeach President Trump for the crime of doing things they dislike. However, I can see them trying a game of budgetary chicken: either Trump signs a budget with a provision "protecting" Mueller or the government is "shut down". I think that Trump is the one R President since Reagan with whom that could backfire.
