GLBT members: I'm a little confused here

CONTENT WARNING: Contains bits and pieces of a soldier language. I'm not trying to offend just record for accuracy

My boyfriend (I'll dub him Sean) is a soldier. As we all know soldiers have a pretty rough vocabulary. I'm no prude so I don't really care...I've been known to let loose a stream of vulgarities under certain circumstances myself. But one thing that troubled me was his derogatory use of the word "gay" and calling people he holds in contempt the 3-lettered f-word. I asked him to stop saying it in my company and to date his has respected my wishes without complaint.

Well last night I had a very strange encounter. We met up at the coffeehouse and he had one of his buddies with him, whom I shall assign the alias Jerry. Jerry is a very good looking, well-built young man. He struck me as very down to earth and he's very funny and he and my boyfriend joke around incessantly. However, Jerry used the 3-lettered f-word a lot too. At first I didn't say anything because I didn't want to embarrass my boyfriend but it was really bothering me and after about the 5th time I asked him to please stop.

"It's OK if Jerry says it," my boyfriend said. "He's a f--."

I looked Jerry and he nodded. I told my boyfriend it wasn't a very funny joke but they both reasserted the claim.

"I thought you weren't supposed to tell?"

"Nobody cares because he's squared-away. Just because he likes dick doesn't mean he's a pusssy."

"And I give good head when were in the field. Just ask Sean." They laughed at each other then laughed at me when I wondered if it were true. I reiterated my dislike for the term and apologized for the imposition especially in light of Jerry's own life. I compared it to how I also don't like it when African-Americans use the n-word even when swapping the "er" at the end for an "a". They actually seemed won over by the point and Jerry nodded.

We went back to just enjoying the evening. Some time later a friend from one of my classes--let's call him Matthew--walked in. Matthew is a very sweet boy and he too is gay...rather effeminate actually. I was thinking cute boy + nice hunk = good times for all so I called out to Matthew and waved him over. I introduced Jerry to him with a wink but Jerry was immediately cold. Matthew was obviously taken by Jerry and tried his best to flirt but Jerry grew increasingly ruder. Matthew finally asked Jerry what his problem was.

"Look here Skittles , if I wanted to f*** a b*tch I'd be straight."

Matthew stormed off and I asked Jerry WTF his problem was. He repeated he didn't like girls, even if they came with dicks. He also told me he had a steady boyfriend and showed me a picture of them making-out. I apologized for not knowing but this scene really left me confused.

I'm not so naive as to think all gays have some paranormal sense of solidarity but how (un)usual is this exchange? This is a new one to me. Oh, and what is with the Skittles reference?

That post is one of those eye brow raisers. As in holy shit.
Come to think of it, unions do create jobs. Companies have to hire two workers to do the work of one.

Who wants to have an emergency blood transfusion in the field from a peter puffer?

Friendly fire comes to mind.

How many clicks of the Alert button does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Roll pop?

My unit in FL had 2 openly gay soldiers. One was a real flamer, the other was an E-7.

The interesting thing about that thread (before it went bye-bye): several gays said, "yeah, it happens" but the straights were the ones who were outraged.
According to the Bible, "know" means "yes."

What's missing with the Crash story?

where are the stories of GLBT crash survivors? Statistically there should have been at least 15 on the plane, probably more since it was NYC. We saw interviews of the pilots wives. But no diversity in interviewing the passengers/crew and their families.. I'm holding my breath waiting for that  :sarcasm:

This story actually rings pretty true.  Which is of course why it went away so quick. LOL!
