Watched the SB with two of my fishing friends. We talked of our favorite places and had a great time. I just got my next 3 year Idaho licence.
Be on the lookout for WA plates on our favorite streams!  :cheersmate:

Picked up my 3 year too.

Had to re-do the hook keeper (actually had to bend the small metal strip that's the base ) and front of the cork grip (loose) on the Heddon Black Beauty, Haven't been able to fish it till now.

How do you like the BB? I had a chance to get one a few years back and kick myself because I didn't.

In the 2F taper (mine) it's an excellent 5 wt. If you can get one, do it. Look for pre- 1950-ish rods, they'll have the orange tipping.

Frank, you are the reason I joined here many years ago. I really enjoy your writing and stories. I guess I got tangled up in a side line here about fishing.
Be well my friend.

I had a tip section scarfed back to full length. It's for the FET Dirigo I posted about before. The rod was made some time before 1909. Like the other sections there are lots of intermediate wraps.

Did you scarf it yourself?
I have a gentleman in western WA that does work like that for me.

No that's something I farmed out. I used Dennis Stone.

Went to the LNFCDA River and teased a couple of large Cutts to a stimulator but none landed. Looked like the road (FS 209) had just cleared of snow. The weekend before it was impassable because of snow drifts. I going to try the upper Pack river this week.

How was the Pack? It looked like a wonderful crick when I drove it a few years ago.
I'll be on the NF next week camping at MP 38. Hidden in the trees.

It was nice, but not the greatest water I've ever fished. I went to Lightning Creek last Fri. near Clark Fork. Very nice, good fish and if you want to keep a few, you can. Also the dispersed camping areas are nowhere as "beat" as the Little N. Fork CDL.

I fished it with a 7.5 ' Montague Rapidan. Nice rod.

Correction, no you can't  it's part of the Clark Fork drainage.

Fished Lightning Creek today. Long drive from Freeman.  Went up 12 miles or so, caught small fish. Worked my way down too the fire area, watched the helicopter drop water every 9 min on a fire that was not putting out smoke.
All in all, a good day! I fished a Channer boo, cant beat that!
