2012: Top DUmmie #06 (PCIntern)
« on: December 23, 2012, 06:32:11 PM »
Congratulations to PCIntern, the #06 Top DUmmie of 2012!

The PCIntern primitive is the last of the newcomers to the Top DUmmie awards, as the ten winners from here on up have placed in the awards during past years.  He’s been hanging around Skins’s island for quite a while, and has provided decent and civilized people with much amusement, but never in the past managed to crack into the top twenty.

The PCIntern primitive is allegedly circa 60 years old, allegedly married, allegedly lives in Philadelphia, and allegedly is a dentist.  There’s good reason to doubt all these allegations, although if he doesn’t live in or near Philadelphia, he at least knows the terrain there.

The primitive’s rather prolific at writing bouncies from the dental office, but whether they’re credible is highly questionable.

Well, this conversation today really blew me the Hell away...

Imagine if you will, a really brilliant businessman, lifelong progressive, who is worth in the mid NINE-figures (no lie), his IQ is probably well over 155, and is one of the most insightful political people I'd ever spoken to. He hated Bush Jr., thought Reagan was a senile old goat upon his election in 1980, can't stand the RWers in Congress.

So I came in at 6:15 AM to see him and what does he say to me? And I quote almost exactly: My wife hates, no, despises Gingrich, but I tell ya, if you put a gun to my head, I'd have to say that I'd vote for Romney, at least right now. Our guy hasn't done much as far as I'm concerned.

My reply:It's OK...I'll be happy to put a gun to your head if you want to do this.

He didn't laugh all that hard…

"Innaresting" perspective today...

So I know this guy really well for about thirty years: he pretends he's an independent but his presentation of "both sides" of any political argument goes like this: "I can't believe that the Republicans are doing ---thisthatandtheotherthing (fill in the blank) and the Democrats just sit by and let them get away with that and that they're gonna get away with that because that's what people want to hear or won't believe the truth or whatever. When you present the opposite side he says, "Don'tcha see? It won't MATTER to anyone."

Now in fact, this is unfortunately sometimes TRUE of us, BUT when he is faced with revelatory truths even years later such as "Gore never stated that HE invented the Internet - it was a more complex statement than that and this is what he actually said...", he just laughs and says, "It doesn't matter NOW, does it?" And when you 'accuse' him and his kind of spreading these untruths (read: lies) he says, "No I didn't: I was just repeating what everyone was saying at the time. I never SAID that it was TRUE or not."

Did I mention that he has a fair amount of money?

So Yesterday, he told me that what Bain Capital did was really really wrong. I retorted: yeah, but this was what was going on in those days and everyone sat around and, if you were a Republican, said that it was the natural order of things Capitalistic and that it was all perfectly legal and it was part of the New World Order and that if you complained about these things you were some sort of Commie bastard. Further, I pointed out that with few exceptions, Wall Street being the most notable film, and Barbarians at the Gates being one of the better made-for-TV shows, these arbitrage guys were being made out to be heroes in the media, taking home millions and billions of dollars without having to produce anything. Wonderment ensued. They were "heady" times. and the Republican establishment was gung-ho, so, I continued, where do guys like Newt and his ilk get off criticizing Romney when they were part of the cheering section. They're making themselves out to be like officers of the IWW for crying out loud.

His response was, surprisingly, an angry "NO! that wasn't the way it happened." I responded: "Oh really." I reminded him of the film Other People's Money with Danny DiVito and Gregory Peck which he and I had talked about contemporaneously. I said, "It was so common to put people out of work and close plants that they made a mainstream movie about it and by the time it came out, it was a cliche."

He said to me, "We'll have to agree to disagree." i replied, "No, you try to make me believe that you identify with my particular political view because you think that that's what I want to hear, but in fact, you're just trying to justify the Republican line which has led this country into deep recession, multiple unnecessary wars, and a horrifying political divide which toe the Country asunder. And you know what? You can stop now, because I've got your number and won't engage in this again with you. Look, just SAY that you like the Republican ideology and at least I won't get stupidly angry with you as an individual, because AT THE VERY LEAST, you're thinking that you're protecting your money and your interests although I'd disagree with even that assumption."

He just frigging laughed...didn't deny it for one instant. I'm all done with him politically.

Breitbart Dental Thread:

He: (RW Lawyer): I know he's probably not your favorite guy, but did you hear that Andrew Breitbart died today?

Me: (Telling the truth): Yeah, I just heard from my receptionist.

He: You going to celebrate?

Me: No....every man's death diminishes me. He wasn't that old.

He: And if he had been old?

Me: Then I suppose that I'd be high-fiving every liberal I know...which is many liberals. Feel better? Is that what you wanted me to say? 'Cause I said it.

He: You're funny...

Me: Do you want me to go into a Joe-Pesci-in-Goodfellas-about-being-funny tirade now??

He: I'm here to get this cavity filled.

Me: Well, that's what I thought when I came into the room, but somehow I got distracted.

He: You should have been a lawyer.

Me: I was just thinking the same thing about you.

He laughed and we got on with it...and NO, I did NOT hurt him.

A few political and non-political thoughts on this Mother's Day:

1. I miss my Mom terribly: she died of her worst fear - a stroke - six years or so ago, and her loss to the family, to her friends, to the Progressive movement at the Jersey Shore, was immense. She was of course, irreplacable to me, but the whole generation is irreplacable: the mixture of altruism, of experience through the Depression, through WW II, through the rise of technology from radio through the computing age, from Hoovervilles, through FDR, through the Great Society, Vietnam, and Reagan/Bush/Bush II is a remarkable lifetime. She once told me upon reflection, that the mostg amazing occurrence as far as she was concerned was the fall of the Soviets: that she was born into the pre-Revolution and thought that it would last for centuries. She was interesting: he first husband, my brother's father, who died very young, had received an invitation to attend a meeting in the late-thirties. She told him, an aspiting actor (his Best friend was a very young Burgess Merideth), that you can't go to a Communist meeting - that he/they will be blacklisted forever and probably 'outed' by someone there who claimed to be one of the most fervent 'adherents'. They didn't go, and she was absolutely right: no one who attended could find work locally or in New York, practically forever, even though many were considered 'rising stars'. That she never believed in the forcible overthrow of the governement and that it was treasonous behavior to believe that it was the right thing to do. She was a real patriot, unlike these BS artists you see on FOX and in the rest of the media today. Really, my only regret with respect to her life, is that I didn't sit down with a video camera and ask her all the questions I should have...most of this information is now lost forever, since she was the last of the generation of the family.

2. This Romney business, as I pointed out last week, is just despicable. I'm only a couple years younger than he is, and if I had a nickel for everytime I heard the word/accusation "homo", "fag", "dyke" or other epithet relating to gay or lesbian students or those accused of being same, at my boarding/day school in New Hope, PA I would not have any financial worries. i could tell you about the 'pranks' that were played upon these people, but it would nauseate you beyond belief on this day. Suffice it to say that Romney's statement that that issue was the last thing on his mind was a BALD-FACED LIE as far as I'm concerned. All of these assholes, and believe me, we thought they were assholes at the time, could talk about was who was or wasn't probably gay - although that word was never used in my day, as I outlined abve. It reminds me of when the Lower Merion School Administrator made the statement that their IT people were so busy doing sork, that they didn't have time to view Porn, during the infamous Webcam case which indirectly and directly involved my own child. i knew at that point that they were lying through their teeth. It's just that one statement that makes you KNOW.

3. As I've mentioned numerous times, I watch old TV shows while I do my bookwork and charts in my office, and I'm on the first season of Mission: Impossible now, and just saw the episode where the Team has to discredit a Nazi living in South America. Many of the statements made by his cohorts, i've been reading lately, just not in Fiction, but on 'mainstream' channels and outlets. We sure have come 'a long way' since the thid 1960's haven't we?

4. We just got a PA photo ID for my 96 year-old FIL, and we were lucky that the lady working had just gone thru some emotional crisis and really didn't give a crap that he didn't have all of his documents just the way they like to have them with 'raised 'seals' and all. His Drivers' license had expired technically too long ago, but she looked at it and said, OK and now he'll be able to vote for sure. He used to be one of those "Independents" but now he's a Dem due to the pure, unadulterated hatred which is emanating form the Rethugs. He's actually quite amazed by: he's fully lucid and lives independently - his mother made it to 104, also fully sentient. I think he's one of those Ashkeazy Jews that New York mag profiled last November. Amazing group of individuals.

5. A Happy Mother's Day to All...may you have the blessings of the Age.

It was fascist/nazi/klan day at the dental office:

otherwise known as "Psychos-R-Us"...

Long ****ing day it was, and it only lasted five hours, since we leave early for the so-called three-day holiday...it is actually more like Gilligan's Three Hour Tour.

Asshole #1: Extreme RW, racist, homophobic, anti-Semitic (but they often go to Jews-like-me for their doctoring), violent, pistol-packing, hater. told me that the problem with the Jews was that they hadn't accepted Christ, and all the countries and peoples who had rejected him had fallen off the precipice, or words to that effect. He's dangerous and creepy, and would be Zotted at Freeperland for being over-the-top...that's how bad. so I just look at him and smile grimly to myself. Thank God he's got good teeth, otherwise I'd have to see him more than twice a year: today's quote, "It's the Liberals' fault that my co-pays are so high." That's the only sentence which didn't include profanities.

Asshole #2: Pedophilic racist: i had to eliminate "Boys Life" from my magazine rack because he used to tear out pictures surreptitiously (he thought). Hates black people "because" his son-in-law's brother was killed by a drive-by shooter. Incidentally, his son-in-law isn't one tenth as angry at the race and gets along famously with my assistant who is great and happens to be AA. The pedophile has nine lives and has survived every major illness any one of which would have killed me years ago.

Asshole #3: Extreme RW woman, hates working-class folk even though she is one. thinks Teachers should work for minimum wage, and that one of the big problems in America is that the Civil War was also one of abolition. So, I ask her, is she a States' Rights person? Her reply: absolutely, unless the State wants to enforce liberal, commie tendencies like reproductive rights and contraception and worker-safety laws, and voting rights...you get the point. Her second biggest complaint is that Truman integrated the Armed Forces. Needless, to say, she doesn't even mention President Obama, probably for fear of having a visit from the Secret Service.

Now it's time to make a vodka gimlet, kick back, do the laundry, watch the Phillies try to lose another one, and attempt to calm down from a bad day.

A funny thing happened at the dental office today:

At about 8 AM my receptionist came in thru the front door with a reception room full of patients (we start at 6:30, and no, we don't call it a 'waiting room'). She was clearly agitated and perturbed. I asked her in front of everyone, "What's the matter?", fearful that I was going to have a VERY LONG DAY. She replied, "I just tried to have a healthcare discussion with a Republican, and it was no use." I replied, "You should know by now not to bother; it's like peeing into the wind." The whole room erupted in laughter. I said, "Good. No Republicans this early in the morning - I'm trying to keep my breakfast down by not becoming too agitated first thing." More laughter. And off to work I went!

So I'm in Chicago this weekend and among other things,

We went to Second City comedy, and saw a rather funny medley of skits starting their six latest members. Pretty good and topical.

Of COURSE, mrs. intern was seated next to the only vocal RW asshole in the entire place and every time President Obama was mentioned, he would shout out, "Where's the birth certificate?". Problem was, he was a young tough guy and rightfully so, everybody was keeping their mouths shut, because he was definitely looking for a fist fight. No doubt. The joke was on him as he quieted down when he realized that the audience was obviously quite smitten with the portrayals and that his protest meant nothing to anybody.

One aspect of one skit was to ask people for increasing amounts of money so that the troupe would improvise a skit based upon the wishes of the highest bidder. The idjit next to us helped donate with his friends so that they came up with $42.00, it was a birthday party, and at the end they said that they wouldn't return anyone's money but would donate it to Planned Parenthood. He was PISSED. Too bad.

I awakened with a 'start' at 2 A.M. today with a realization...

I couldn't for the life of me recall of what the President's expression during the debate reminded me. It was a synthesis of reflection, anxiety, and sadness. During the proceedings, I thought for a moment that something serious was going on in the world and he was unable to discuss this due to the secretive nature. I disabused myself of that notion when I thought about how he handled himself at the Correspondent's Dinner, whilst his soldiers were killing Osama bin Laden.

But this morning, I recalled that Senator Kerry, when conceding abruptly as far as I was concerned, had that same look. I recall distinctly at that time that I thought, no, knew, that someone of great power and influence had stated to him that if he dared to contest the election results, that he and his family, well, might have problems in the future.

There was a lot of talk that they had moved the President's acceptance speech indoors. not due to the weather, but due to some intelligence they had received. I just hope and pray to God that he and his family are all right throughout this trying time.

I never paid much attention to this primitive, but his writing mirrors that of the a'hole Larry David (Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm). If I didn't know better, I would think they were one and the same, because they both write about things they wish would happen, but never do in real life. I don't believe you are a dentist, I believe you are a sociopath. And PC, I am glad I didn't see your screed about Andrew Breitbart, else you'd have been my #1 pick for DOTY. You scum-sucking piece of shit. Apologies for my language to CCer's.

What if you're a pretend dentist and the made up stories are about pretend patients?

Well, of course he's not really a dentist, and his stories are all made up for his fellow DUmpmonkeys.

But even if he were honest, I don't think he'd be in violation because he never gives information that could identify an individual.

I really can't read through all your crap so if you never accomplish anything else, at least you can know this: you make me very grateful to frank and the others who can read through your crap and award you appropriately.

I would need a week off to recuperate after writing up an award for you.

That's why the "gap" until the top five DUmmies, and the two special awards, get posted, probably circa Wednesday morning through mid-day New Year's Eve.

<<needed a break; it was a drear task, writing awards for primitives (other than three of them) for whom one doesn't particularly care.

Well, God Bless and Merry Christmas franksolich.

Inspired by your Primitive Christmas Carol I am going to try my hand at writing a primitive story. Although I don't know what to expect.

Actually, the truth is I never know myself how such stories are going to end; I just let them go on until.....they end themselves.

And to you too, sir, a very Merry Christmas!

Well, I've already got a page and 1/2 written. It is a PCIntern story! I am trying to write it in as much ignorance as possible only referring back to random words posted here.

I have to go run some errands. Will pick it up later.
