This is a primitive a wholly new face to the Top DUmmies, and it’s an impressive feat, the break into the top ten without first showing up in the second ten a time or two before.
Now, I should be embarrassed, absolutely embarrassed, to admit this, but franksolich wrote a story about the sabrina primitive--and just this year, even--but once written, I’d forgotten all about it, and when it popped up in a search, I had to read the whole thing to learn how it came out.
I have no idea why I’d forgotten I’d written it, because it’s a good story.

75. I agree, especially since I took the time to learn a bit more about this case. Even the prosecutor was outraged over the way this case was run, together with the girl herself, who said she was harmed far more by what happened to her in court than the incident itself, and much more information that is available, this is a waste of time, imo.
And a minor point for the law-and-order types, rabid for revenge, rather than justice. He was NOT convicted of rape, so it is a lie to keep repeating that. The law is the law, as they keep reminding us, and the case has been decided, and rape was not the crime.
It's interesting too, that when his wife and child, (named Paul), and three of their friends, plus a fifth person were so brutally murdered on their property, Polanski was accused in the press of having murdered them. More knee-jerk behavior that he had to wait five months before being able to refute it.
Sometimes I feel like I'm on a rightwing site when I come here.
America has a long way to go before we catch up with the rest of the civilized world. This lust for revenge, in a situation that has been settled for years between all the parties, and is no longer our business, is really disturbing.

Her spirited, incessant defense of the oblate spheroid, and no other reason, quite possibly catapulted her into prominence on both Skins’s island and here in the DUmpster.

41. Yes, she has. And she most definitely has a point. Especially since she is being stalked on a vile, rightwing site where they record every post over here that attacks her. This is a very creepy thing, for a woman to be the target of such a site. Especially considering that most DUers know that some of their members took their obsessions with DUers offline and interfered in a life and death situation of a DUer causing his surgery to be delayed.
I would think that when a woman is being subjected to this kind of stalking, at least here on a Democratic board there would be some support for her. Actually there is, thankfully.

And you did the rational thing, you put her on ignore. That is all people are asking them to do but they are refusing to do so. They are fighting hard to have their 'fun' at her expense for some inconceivable reason. How this could be 'fun' for any rational human being for years and years, is beyond me.
We all had our issues with Nadin, and most of us simply left her alone. But I did see those comments and if I saw them in the short amount of time I spent there, then it is reasonable to believe that those who were feeding them every day, saw them also. But even without those comments which were the worst of what I saw, what 'fun' is their to be had in mocking other people regardless of whether they 'deserve' it or not?
Like the OP, I guess I thought we Progressive Democrats were different. But looking at both sites back then, I found out that this may not be the case at all as it was hard to find any difference between those mocking her there, and those mocking her here.
She herself was bullied as a child and it is simply cruel imo, to do what has been done to her both here and there, and nothing will change my mind about that, I'm sorry.

48. Nadin, you are right about bullies, but I think they have been exposed so often that no one really gives them any credibility here anymore. Most people either ignore them when they see their names, or have put them on ignore.
You contribute to DU, they do not. I think the community in general is on YOUR side. So if I were you, I would not allow them to influence any decisions I made.
It's interesting that a majority of them are men, both here and on the right wing site they so often quote or who quote them. And interesting that both sites target the same people. Confirming most of the studies of internet bullying among grown ups. Bullies = men, targets = women.
You can rest assured that most people are fully aware of them and for the most part agree with you on the issue.
We have disagreed from time to time, which is fine. But something definitely should be done about bullying wherever it rears its ugly head.
