Watertown police chief Edward Deveau said Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, the 19-year-old suspected Boston Marathon bomber who was captured alive on Friday, killed his older brother Tamerlan by driving over him and dragging his body through the street with a carjacked SUV Thursday night.
Deveau, in an interview with CNN's Wolf Blitzer on Saturday, said police officers were handcuffing Tamerlan, who had run out of ammunition, when Dzhokhar came at them in a carjacked SUV. Watertown officers were able to get out of the way.
The brothers were armed with pipe bombs, firearms, and explosives and had been in a firefight with officers on Thursday night after they reportedly "assassinated" an MIT police officer. Deveau said a pressure cooker bomb also went off during the firefight, causing a major explosion. The brothers threw explosives at the officers.
Dzhokhar eventually abandoned the SUV, fleeing on foot. He hid in a land-docked boat in a Watertown neighborhood, where law enforcement found him Friday evening.
According to Deveau, a person who had gone out for a walk and noticed a trail of blood leading to the boat called authorities....

But they were angels according to the dad. ::)
-
The older brother was uninjured enough to be cuffed?
This is the third time this year we've heard of cops getting in major gun battles and not seriously wounding -- sometimes not hitting! -- their target. The heat of battle and all that, but these guys are pros, and none of them can deal a fatal shot?
-
But they were angels according to the dad. ::)
Mooselimb angels about the work of the Mooselimb concept of God.
If there was ever a damning indictment o the very roots of a particular religion, this would be it. If I were shopping for aGod, I think I'd settle for the Hare Krishnas before I'd join Mohommed and his Death Cult. At least the worst they'll do is accost you in the airport with flowers.

Have you ever had someone shoot or throw pipe bombs at you, dumb ass??
I would like to see every policeman carry automatic weapons with a 30 round clip in their vehicle and use them in situations where no one else could be injured by stray bullets. In that case, the fuzz could call the coroner. No handcuffs needed.
-
Wait a minute. I read where he was so full of bullets the doctors quit counting. You mean to tell me not one of their bullets was a bull's eye?
What are they made of? Peanut butter?

Your insult was far more meaningful than your post. I'm obviously not the first to make this assessment, considering your reputation rating. But, let's move past that and back to the topic:
Here's the first case to which I was referring:
http://usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/02/07/16888732-women-shot-by-cops-were-just-delivering-papers?lite
I cannot find the exact count now, but the LAPD fired off over 100 rounds at the two women they mistook for Christopher Dorner. They hit neighboring houses and trees, struck the stationary vehicle about 30% of the time. The women were unarmed.
This is the second: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/08/26/nyregion/bystanders-shooting-wounds-caused-by-the-police.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0
The NYC cops emptied their guns at a man who had just shot a co-worker. The man pulled his weapon, and the cops opened fire. They shot nine by-standers.
By the way, I am not alone on this discussion board in my questioning of the cops ability to hit their targets. Shall I give you the link to the other "dumb asses"?
-
Some are saying that this has been 'de-bunked' but I'm not sure What has been de-bunked?
The video interview is here (below) and the Police Chief's explanation starts at 8:32

Dragged down the street? Thats rough.
I'm not surprised the brother spread some more of that jihadi love. /s Muzzles usually have this martyrdom pact not to let the other be taken alive. Looks like the angel gunned for him as soon as he saw bro in custody.

From experience...rounds coming at you while you're firing rounds at someone...will make even the best of shooters miss.
Real life isn't some Dirty Harry movie.

Go for it n00b.

I did call the police in the city of Kingston, NY once to dispatch a rabid raccoon that had made its way into a fenced area of my workplace. They showed up and emptied their 9mm pistol at a distance of 5' about 14 rounds I think and failed to kill the coon! They did slow it down though so I had to go wack it with a tire iron! Just sayin.

Had a great, great grandmother that died before I was born. The old folks used to talk of her. They said she carried a .38 in her apron and could hit a mad dog on the run. She was a regular Annie Oakley with her .38. I guess some folks are just naturals with a weapon.

Maybe the raccoon was doing the Watusi instead of sitting up on it's hind legs saying, "shoot me, shoot me".

Not according to some of the TiTs here. These cops were having bombs/grenades thrown at them.

That came directly from the doctor that worked on him. They were cuffing him dead or alive.

This chief is all over the news giving interviews which are conflicting. He seems to be taking credit for the capture also, when Watertown police were most likely no where near the house when it all went down.

You did not answer my question. Have you ever had someone shoot at you? I have in the Army. Crickets, crickets.
I would not brag about a 8 negative to 1 positive post. Plus, I am a staunch conservative who does not like liberals or RINOs and will dump on their case in a heartbeat. BTW, grow some balls, and quote what I said the next time, noob.
-
Just went looking for any credible article on cause of death and there is none as the ME has not issued anything yet. Huffington post has one article from a Boston Globe contributor who was in ER when he was brought in and that is it.
He was in cardiac arrest (meaning quite dead) when he was brought in. They worked on him 15 minutes and called it. Period, the end.

I remembered this in my gun class, that many of the current PO's are terrible shots, according to our NRA instructors. They are not practicing enough as it is, and combine that with adrenaline at the scene.

I see. So, according to you, even though what I said is fully in line with many long-time members of this forum and fully documented with references to news stories, I am either a liberal or a RINO with no balls.
Got it. I read you quite clearly.

I'm going with the first one for now.

A doctor involved in treating the Boston Marathon bombing suspect who died in a gunbattle with police says he had injuries head to toe and all limbs intact when he arrived at the hospital.
Dr. David Schoenfeld said 26-year-old Tamerlan Tsarnaev was unconscious and had so many penetrating wounds when he arrived at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center early Friday that it isn't clear which ones killed him, and a medical examiner will have to determine the cause of death.

Dzhokhar Killed Brother by Running over Him....must have taken "drivers ed" in government public school.

I wonder if he yelled "Don't tread on me!"

BS given for being needlessly argumentative and aggressive.
this is a discussion forum. People are allowed to disagree. Tone it down a bit.
Public service announcement for the noob.

I wouldn't put money on the Chief being particularly true to the facts on that one, it sounds like briefing room BS that made its way into an official statement.

That's because you are willfully ignorant and refuse to read the words on the page:

So there you go. Feel better? You shouldn't you should feel childish and small.

Not to interfere with your strutting around and feeling like a big tough guy, but yeah, I served, too. Corps of Engineers. Demolitions. We were the ones with the scary bombs that make you soil yourself to the point of being too terrified to properly discharge your weapon. Did you ever get past that? Maybe not. Perhaps that is why you are carrying this irrational, inner rage.
There you go children. Thanks for playing! I'm off to look for worthy opponents. You don't qualify.

Why should I feel childish and small?? If they are not practicing, that is their own dang fault!! However, even if they were good shots. nervousness, high adrenaline would play a big factor. In this case, they are trying to bring a guy down, that had done excessive damage. For some, it might have been personal. Anger and grief, probably played a big part in missed shots.

I need to see a link to the missed shots claim you are making.

I had pics up..I am still learning, but I was just nervous( at my firearms class)!!!

The older brother was uninjured enough to be cuffed?
The suspect is always cuffed after a shooting. Thee only exception are if the suspect is believed to have explosives or hazardous chemicals on his person, in which case the officers maintain standoff distance and secure a perimeter until experts declare the scene safe; and circumstances where the suspect no longer has two arms and hands to cuff together. :whistling:
This is the third time this year we've heard of cops getting in major gun battles and not seriously wounding -- sometimes not hitting! -- their target. The heat of battle and all that, but these guys are pros, and none of them can deal a fatal shot?
It's nothing new. Most police officers are average to below-average marskmen, and shooting under the stress of real life (the two way rifle range described above) is vastly different from range qualification (as has also been stated above).
-
I was watching a documentary on the shootout at the OK Corral, and apparently there were 30 shots fired; but only a few were fatal. The parties were only 6 feet away from each other. If the Earps and Cowboys couldn't do more damage than that during an intense gunfight, how can we expect "everyday" policemen to do any better? I'm not gonna put the cops down, because I've never been in that situation.
-

I would add that stress is doubled or tripled for a couple of nervous kids who haven't had much firearms experience.

Newsflash--cuffing a suspect, regardless of the severity of his/her injuries, is not unusual. I'm thinking of the North Hollywood bank robbers, one of whom was still alive, lying cuffed on the ground before he kicked. I'm sure there are other examples.
-

NYC...shooting at a perp at just over 10 feet. 9 civilians injured.
Part of it is training (or lack thereof) part is equipment. Imagine a 10-12 lb trigger pull on a pistol and how much that'll screw up your aim.
And yes, there are states that mandate that level of trigger pull.

Uh yeah. That would be one of a myriad of reasons why I am not a police officer. YIKES!

Did it ever occur to you they didn't want to kill him so they could gather some intelligence? Was he part of a terror cell? Did he receive training when he was "visiting his dad" for 6 months? Do they have any other bombs hidden anywhere? Besides, every time one of these idiots die, they're made into martyrs. That's why, we generally want to take them alive. As you weren't there, you shouldn't second guess other people. Of course if you think you could do better...by all means prove it. Next time something big goes down, just call the cops and say "hey, I've got this". Asshat! Bitchslap for being such a judgemental know-it-all! Of course, I suppose you're an expert marksman so that makes you perfect in every way, huh? People like you give humans a bad name!

Same here. Both the M1911 and the M9. Expert on both (but the .45 ACP was just a noisemaker, as far as I was concerned).
