Now, this is ridiculous.

It's obvious that the guy who sits in a cubicle somewhere and punches in the numbers on the scoreboard as they change is away from his desk, drunk, stoned, or making nice-nice with a woman co-worker, because he's not punching in those numbers.

It still shows Texas Tech-Oklahoma as not having started,

And it made a big leap here, as if it hadn't been changed for fifteen or so minutes:

an obscure state college in Pennsylvania 27, Northwestern 24, halftime.

I mean, how hard of a job can that be, sitting there punching in a number once every two or three minutes?

And one probably gets to eat and watch television while at it too.

Wisconsin 13, Michigan State 0, first quarter.

One wonders why the Texas Tech-Oklahoma game hasn't started yet.

Weather delay. Supposed to kickoff around 8:15.

Thanks, sir.

What sort of weather?

I was thinking the guy in the cubicle was just goofing off, or asleep.

Wisconsin 14, Michigan State 2, second quarter.

By the way, that did happen last year, with the Army-Navy game.

The Army-Navy game was the last game of that particular day, and as the games preceding it wound down, the posting of updates on the scoreboard got slower and slower.

By halftime, it was obvious the guy in the cubicle had gone home for the day.

Thanks.

It's about time Oklahoma got some rain, but it's probably way too late.

You know, that must be a nice job; I wonder what it pays.

All one has to do is sit in a cubicle watching a game on television and punching in the numbers as they happen.

An air-conditioned or heated--whichever's needed--place, comfortable chair.

Probably can eat, sip, and smoke while there.  And smooch with a co-worker too.

Well, the guy in charge of the Southeastern Conference is on his toes, getting the numbers in.

Jacksonville State 14, Kentucky 38, final.

Arkansas 29, Mississippi 24, final.

Auburn 10, Louisiana State 45, final.

Army 6, Vanderbilt 37, third quarter.

Tennessee 6, Alabama 13, third quarter.

Well, the guy in the cubicle slipped away; probably left the building to go to a naughty-house for a while, thinking nobody cares any more about the numbers.

So.....I'll call it on this live thread, and go have some fun myself.

Whoa.

Whoa.

Texas Tech 24, Oklahoma 7, halftime.

The guy in the cubicle must have punched in the wrong numbers.  Or at least I hope.

Texas Tech 31, Oklahoma 17, end of third quarter.

This is surely going to screw up my own enjoyment of the season, what with Wisconsin losing to Michigan State, Nebraska barely winning over Minnesota, and a possibility Oklahoma might lose this game.

From Tuesday's Omaha World-Herald:

Quote
Apparently West Virginia is the leader in the clubhouse to replace Missouri in the Big 12. Bob Huggins back in the Big 12, I get. But I can't wait for those West Virginia-Texas Tech trips.

Quote
How does Wisconsin fall nine spots in the BCS with a Hail Mary loss on the road and Oklahoma stays in the Top 10 after losing to Texas Tech at home? How is Nebraska ranked ahead of Wisconsin? Don't ask. It's college football.

Quote
For the record, the replay of the Hail Mary touchdown looked good, but certainly not 100 percent conclusive. I thought that it was a gutsy call to end a game that big with a play like that. Maybe not quite as gutsy, since the home team got the call.

I thought that it was somewhat funny that the official who announced the touchdown made a mad dash for the exit as soon as he signaled touchdown. What's the hurry? There were thousands of people in green who wanted to buy him a drink.

The above of course referring to the Michigan-Michigan State game.

Quote
A lot of armchair psychiatrists are getting paid overtime this week wondering which Sparty will show up in Lincoln on Saturday.

A Michigan State team on an emotional roll?

Or the Spartans about to hit the wall after last week's finish?

You hear a lot about the latter. But here's something to consider: Michigan State should show up, fired up, because it's playing Nebraska. This is still a big deal to Big Ten teams who want to show the new kid what they've got.

The Spartans also have a chance to essentially lock down the first division title at Nebraska — a team many picked to win it.

There's more history to achieve. The Spartans have also never beaten NU.

One has to disagree with the part in bold, above.

It's up to us to show the eastern establishment elites what we've got, and so far we haven't shown them a damned thing.
