Heating oil $3.33- 3.79

I long for the outrageously high $2/gal gas we had under President Bush.   I think $3 gas is going to be the new and accepted norm.

Same price I paid for it as of last week. I've used a 104 gallon so far this winter....not bad. Thank you global warming.

This morning it's $3.65. And it's the same at every damned gas station for 60 miles around here. But there is no price fixing...

We've burned through a 275-gallon tank so far.  Minus however much "space" they leave.  I'm guessing including the stuff we've used since last week, about 250 gallons.

And we've still got close to 3 months to go before we won't need the furnace.  Oy.

The X-wife, like Obama, liked it hot in the house, and like Obama, someone else was paying the bill, me. We used to go through 500+ gallons a winter back then.

I have programmable thermostats upstairs and down, and let me tell you, I USE THEM.  Down to 55 at night, kick the heat on upstairs for an hour or two in the morning, then back down to 55-60.  Same with downstairs, but keep the heat at about 65 during the day (people here) and 68-70 in the evenings.

And we've STILL gone through 250 gallons in 4 months, give or take.  For this area, that's pretty damned good.  I know folks who go through 800-1000 gallons every winter, plus run their water heaters off oil burners.

I had a new furnace installed last fall and the tank topped up at that time. Since 10/1/2012 I have gone through 220 gallons of fuel and a half ton of pellets.  I heat my hot water off the furnace and use the pellet stove during the day to keep the main floor warm.

Last year I used only 91 gallons of fuel oil because I have a high efficiency heat pump, but my heat pump quit at the end of january. I'm afraid to see a fuel delivery.  :thatsright:

Premium is $4.04/gal and regular is $3.74.  I don't get it.  The price difference between the two grades has went from 20 cents to 30 cents in the past six months.

Well, let's see now:

Since about 10/1 (or thereabouts) we've gone through one tank (minus the tippy top and whatever little was left).  Added that 100 gallons, and now just under 1/4 tank again, so let's call it roughly 300 gallons, plus about 1/3 cord of wood just for, "Ooooh, pretty!" and keeping the living room warm some nights/weekends.

Meaning I'm going to HAVE to get another 100 gallons before the season is over, because I'm sure as hell not going to top off the tank with the prices we've got now at the end of the season while stocks are at their lowest.  Local place has it going for $3.799, so there's another $380, plus the fill-up come spring going to be another $700-750...oh, yeah...and the furnace inspection, there's another $150...

Meanwhile, gas is now above $3.70/gallon, will easily hit $4 by Easter.  Thanks, Obammy!

Regular was $3.75 when I left for work at 4:30am.  It was $3.79 at the same gas station at 5:15pm.  That's the pattern here for the last couple of weeks.
