I had a new furnace installed last fall and the tank topped up at that time. Since 10/1/2012 I have gone through 220 gallons of fuel and a half ton of pellets. I heat my hot water off the furnace and use the pellet stove during the day to keep the main floor warm.
Well, let's see now:
Since about 10/1 (or thereabouts) we've gone through one tank (minus the tippy top and whatever little was left). Added that 100 gallons, and now just under 1/4 tank again, so let's call it roughly 300 gallons, plus about 1/3 cord of wood just for, "Ooooh, pretty!" and keeping the living room warm some nights/weekends.
Meaning I'm going to HAVE to get another 100 gallons before the season is over, because I'm sure as hell not going to top off the tank with the prices we've got now at the end of the season while stocks are at their lowest. Local place has it going for $3.799, so there's another $380, plus the fill-up come spring going to be another $700-750...oh, yeah...and the furnace inspection, there's another $150...
Meanwhile, gas is now above $3.70/gallon, will easily hit $4 by Easter. Thanks, Obammy!
