Selection Sunday-4 DAYS 23 HRS 20 MIN 39 SEC - away
« on: March 11, 2008, 06:40:01 PM »
Yee-ha.

Been catching up with the game since the NFL free agency cooled off. College basketball, it seems, has been having a pretty exciting year. For anyone not caught up enough yet to get your bracketology on, were in Conference Tournament week so you have some time. Forh those who have been caught up all along, congrats and fwiw, post more. LOL. Yeah, I'm guilty too. (the Duke/UNC game was great stuff but I was watching out of town on that one)

Anywho, here's a handy schedule for Conf. Tourny week...
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/champweek2008/index

... a handy guide to the current standings...

... and a look at the top 25.

I'll do a bracketology thing for CC unless someone else does it first. All are welcome. Selection Sunday is comming fast upon us and there will not be a more entertaining Sunday till football season. (IMHO)

I'll post back here this weekend with the set-up. Likely yahoo as it's free and everyone here knows how it works. Good luck all!

Do you think OSU is going to make the NCAA tourney, RS?

Hmmm, dunno.

They are a bubble team for sure. Right now, I'd say maybe not. The Buckeye's need to do well in the Big 10 tournament without doubt. I think they can play their way in. Or another bubble team can play their way out though you don't like to depend on that.

IMO, two wins this week and they should dance.

Jeff Goodman, who knows more than I, (who dosen't, lol) has OSU in on quality of wins. I prefer a team hit that magic number of 20 wins to get in though. (OSU is 19-12 going into MSU for the tourny)

Yeah, I know. A lot of the hoops insiders are saying they are in. I just wanted your take as a fan and as someone who's in their backyard.

Right on.

I've got a beauty of a backyard for college basketball here in Cincinnati for sure. U of Cincinnati (down year) and Xavier (huge year) right here in town, Ohio State, Indiana, Louisville, Kentucky, and Butler are all a comfortable drive to go there and back on the same day. (so's my alma mater Wright State) We get Horizon League (Wright State's in it but Butler put them on the map), Big East, MAC, SEC, Atlantic 10 and Big 10 games all broadcast as local due to local connections and fan base. It's a shame I'm such a football nut, lol.

No Bobby Thuggins no U. of Cinci......

I guess my question is do you think at least 2 ACC teams will make the dance, considering how horrible they are in football and all??

Dookies, NC and Clemson are all locks for the tourney. The talking heads are saying Miami might sneak in too.

I was happy to see Huggins go away and that was before I moved to Cincy. (from Dayton/Columbus)

I think OH got it right. All the 20+ win ACC teams could go. As an adendum to my "magic 20" rule I would add you should also have a winning record in your own conf. and Miami is not there. (yet) But they will be with some conf. tourney wins. Two wins and they are in IMO. (for a 10-9 conf record)

On edit:

sorry for the delay in response. I'm watching Butler in the Horizon League championship right now. They are finally pulling away late in the second half. Meh. Winning the HL won't help them any but losing it sure could have hurt them in the seeding.  :p

Games on!  :-)

Dayton had a real shot (likely "win and in") for the dance but just fell to number 10 Xavier. Missed a ton of FTs in the second half.  :thatsright: See ya in the NIT guys.

'Cuse was on the bubble until they lost to 'Nova.  After getting stiffed last year, it would have been nice to see them go this year, but they don't deserve it.  Also, it was nice to see Siena go to the Dance.

fwiw, I don't think the Buckeye's earned a spot.
