I was a DEI director — DEI drives campus antisemitism

Quote
The blatant antisemitism on college campuses has shocked millions of Americans over the past week and a half.

But not me.

I saw antisemitism on a weekly basis in my two years as a faculty “diversity, equity and inclusion” director.

In fact, I can safely say that toxic DEI ideology deliberately stokes hatred toward Israel and the Jewish people.

I was hired to head the DEI department at Silicon Valley’s De Anza College in 2021.

As a black woman, I was the perfect person for the job — on paper.

DEI is another form of bigotry and exclusion.

Looking at De Anza College's ethnic info here, https://www.collegefactual.com/colleges/de-anza-college/student-life/diversity/ , one can see that Whites are not the largest ethnic gropu at De Anza, but third. The "problem" that Tabia Lee did not see as a problem is that the largest ethnic groups is "Asian". Most De Anza students come from the cities of Cupertino and Sunnyvale, De Anza's area in the De Anza Foothill College District. Guess what ethnic group is the largest in those cities. As for blacks, they are just ~2.5% of De Anza student ... which is actually a bit greater than the cities' demographics.

I'm not trying to bore the snot out of anyone, but my big point is that De Anza's student population reflects the ethnic mix of their part of their district (boundaries drawn in the 60s or 70s). Know nothing about her that wasn't in news articles, my guess is that she saw the district's demographics and the student body demographics, and concluded that De Anza was fairly well balanced. If my guess is somewhere close to correct, kudos to her for being realistic and for not hating Asians and Whites. And for caring more about education than the skin color of who is being educated. That should not be a high standard, but in her career field, well, it's treasonous and got her fired. Evidently De Anza College trustees resent/dislike/ham-sandwich more that 1/3 of the college's students.

DEI is another form of bigotry and exclusion.

But it is Party Approved bigotry and exclusion, therefore it's a good thing  ::)

From the OP article:

Quote
Before I got to campus, Jewish students had endured a litany of hateful and hostile acts.

The school had hosted a Hanukkah party that featured no Hanukkah imagery but plenty of pro-Palestinian protesters.

The student body had passed resolutions on “divesting” from Israel —  the first college of its kind to do so — and criticizing Israel’s “attacks against humanity.”

Multiple Jewish students told me the campus was essentially an antisemitic environment.

I tried to right this wrong. First, I hosted Jewish speakers on campus, with the goal of promoting diversity and inclusion by sharing different perspectives.

Critics called me a “dirty Zionist,” and the school refused to promote the events.

I then pushed the administration to issue a strong condemnation of antisemitism.

My request was refused. Some campus leaders and colleagues repeatedly told me I shouldn’t raise issues about Jewish inclusion or antisemitism.

Dei like critical race theory and all the rest of the progressive agenda is toxic racism against whites.

Interestingly enough, there are several DIE instructors who are abandoning the field. Whether for pure reasons or not will be debatable, but I think several have realized one of two things.

1.  People aren’t buying this crap and there is going to be kickback so I might get ahead of the curve to a new job.

Or

2.  They knew it was bullshit, but were going to cash in while they could.

My vote is #1 above, in essence. I think there are plenty of wokesters who buy this bullshit, hook line and sinker - even now. But they're smart enough to see the handwriting on the wall, or they're learning that their gigs are not being supported by the corporate elite.

Ultimately, people tend to find job satisfaction not so much in how much they're getting paid, or the perks, or the corner office -- they find it in whether or not they're making a difference. I'd posit that the corporate elite are paying lip service to this entire DEI bullshit and thus, these DEI "Directors" sit around pulling on their puds.

It would be interesting to see what this woman is saying 5 years hence. She bought enough of race-victimology to make it her career. OTOH, she saw its hateful bitter fruit in action and got burned by it (and may have made herself a pariah in the race-victim industry). How much did she learn?

Maybe she learned the money she spent on her education to get that job would have been better spent on lottery tickets  :-)
