Thousands in Arkansas lose Medicaid because of new work requirements
As many as 4,600 Medicaid recipients in Arkansas have lost their benefits for the rest of this year after failing to meet the state’s new work requirements.
Arkansas became the first state ever to implement work requirements, after gaining approval from the Trump administration earlier this year. Under the new rules, which took effect in June, recipients must work, go to school, volunteer or search for jobs for at least 80 hours a month or be stripped of their coverage until the following year.
The affected beneficiaries, mainly non-disabled adults in their 30s and 40s who don’t have dependent children, failed to report any work activity for three months. This prompted the state to drop them from the rolls. A final tally will be available next week.
State officials said they made many efforts to contact those subject to the new requirement, including sending letters and emails, making phone calls and videos, working with community organizations and setting up a call center to answer questions. Those who could not find employment were offered training. Recipients had to log their hours online, but could designate certain others — such as their Medicaid insurer or a local nonprofit — to do it for them if they did not have access to a computer.

Predictably, the jakcpiners aren't fond of reporting requirements, no matter how light and superficial and easy.
Apparently they think that one should have to do no more than just lay around on the couch, Omaha Steve-like, while a parade of bureaucratic dignitaries stops by their home bearing gifts on regal pillows.
I mean, come on now, what is so hard about meeting those requirements?
Geezuz.

The jackpineboot dippoops are just another democrat apologist for filthy leftist trash. May they all rot in their failed effort to destroy America.
I had hopes they would help expose the democrat filth but they seem to enjoy pumping them with anal Jism instead.

Liberals are all about evolution. You would think they would support a survival of the fittest welfare policy

Dear lord, I wish that I only had to work 80hrs a month. Just 2 five day work weeks.

Oh for heaven's sake! How in Hades do healthy, "unencumbered" adults NOT meet such easy standards?! I had no hours goal at the time, but probably met the job search hours requirement during my 8-months' job search back in 2002! And were there no non-profits in their area that needed volunteers (this is how Mrs. SVPete got her present job, getting hired by the non-profit where she'd been volunteering for several months - they recognized her organization skills and work ethic, no interview needed)?

Those idiots are all over the map. Some want to "reclaim" the Democrat party. Other wants to break away and form their own "progressive party" (this is actually the one idea they should follow). Others rage against capitalism and desire socialism/communism. Others point out that pure socialism is a failure and that a mix ("social democracy") is the better path.
At least most of them have figured out that Obama and the Clinton's were idiots (howbeit they've reached that conclusion using the wrong reasoning, but they did reach it). And if they were to quit talking about Trump and start focusing on their agenda, they might even move a nanometer in the direction they want to head. But that ain't gonna happen.

Only in lefty's twisted mind could rules like that be a bad thing.

It just blows my mind.
Omaha Steve & Co. think that people shouldn't have to do anything, anything at all, to get free medical care?

Yeah, the Dim party thinks that it is a "right".
Of course, we know they've never even read the Constitution.

A right to health care would be the only right that forces other people to be slaves. Sounds just like the left.

Long gone is the day when people had an ounce of pride and would cringe at a handout.

Nowadays, a whole class of people view handouts as a right.

Yeah, this was pretty foreseeable, starting from the 60s/70s "Welfare Rights" groups. Pretty pathetic.

It is. And as we might have seen on YouTube in the past two years, nothing gets the 'gibsmedats' going more that a threat to have them work for those EBT cards. They bloviate and issue empty threats, bug one of these days, they might actually do something violent because of that. The ball is rolling, at that point.

There you have it.
My current job involves medicaid through the administration of an insurance company, I know a lot about medicaid now. States retained the right to set their own rules, and if Arkansas wishes to set its rules, it may. Medicaid, however, is a trap. Everything free, no copays, no nothing. But, everything requires pre-authorizations, and they say NO all the time. To get the NO overturned requires an entire panel and unbelievable hoop-jumping. And they usually still say NO. Sound familiar?

You mean, kinda like a "death panel"?

As they say, there is no such thing as a free lunch.
Medicaid is one giant red tape.

Yes, death panel. Speaking of which, I don't know if I've said this before here, I've said it on FB. in New York, you can get one free abortion every single year on medicaid, no questions asked, you don't have to stay in network, no restrictions, just get it done. Taxpayer funds. How can this be possible? It makes me so nauseated and sick just to think about it. Other procedures and meds that people really need, medicaid says "NO. LOSE WEIGHT." (really).
