Buy a new printer.

(seriously: is it direct connected or network connected?)

Check for viruses.

I didn't, and that's why I'm where I'm at today.

Have you right clicked the printer icon and selected the "purge print document" option?  That usually works for me.

That's kind of my thought, too.

Did you try turning off/unplugging the printer from the computer?

  • Yes, everything you heard about me is true
You might try restarting the print spooler service on your computer. If the printer itself has a hard drive you might physically unplug the printer from the wall or depending on make and model go into the print cue and manually delete it. Most printers have their own status and configuration website now too. Use your browser to go to the IP address of the printer, this is assuming it is a network printer. If it is USB or parallel then try restarting the print spooler service on your computer as I said above.

You should be able to just restart the computer to clear the job. It that doesn't work :

Stop the print spooler service via mmc and services snapin.

Delete the files from the spool directory. Usu in /windows/spool

Restart the spooler service.

If it's just a simple USB printer, just delete the printer and restart the PC...Takes a few min and it's usually faster and easier

I think I found out what the problem was.  I plugged the printer back in to the computer (we plug it in from the front) and left it sit for a while.  Apparently the computer needed to get approval from the printer on the deletion of the print job before it actually deleted it.     :censored:

Or open the main breaker in his electrical panel. That always works for me  :-)
