Title: The Tsunami

The North Carolina Legislature is Republican for the first time since 1870. Yes, that is Eighteen Seventy.

The Alabama Legislature is Republican for the first time since 1876.

The entire Wisconsin and New Hampshire legislatures have flipped to the GOP by wide margins.

The State Houses in Indiana, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Ohio, Iowa, Montana, and Colorado flipped to the GOP.

The Maine and Minnesota Senates flipped to the GOP.

The Texas and Tennessee Houses went from virtually tied to massive Republican gains. The gains in Texas were so big that the Republicans no longer need the Democrats to get state constitutional amendments out of the state legislature.

These gains go all the way down to the municipal level across the nation. That did not happen even in 1994.

This was a tsunami.

It's even better than that.

The NH Senate was run by Dems 14-10 the last 4 years.  Today, it's 21-3 in favor of the GOP.  That's right--11 seats.

The GOP has ALL FIVE SEATS on the Executive Council.

The Legislature, which was Dem for the last 4 years, flipped back to the GOP by almost a 3-1 margin.

Lynch did win a 4th 2-year term as governor, but the margin of victory, which had been 30-40 points in the previous 2 elections, was more like 6 points this time.  Anything he vetoes will likely be overridden.  Local pundits are already calling him the GINO (Governor in name only.)

Return?  Try a slaughter.

Not for us. Told the wife this morning it's time to start looking to redder pastures - taxes here will go through the roof with a dem Gov, M. Jodi Rell WAS the only reason there was still a CT. The idiots in this state re-elected all Dem incumbents. We're toast. BILLIONS in the hole next year and every year thereafter.

To quote a famous movie:

"Iceberg, right ahead."

I don't blame you.  I don't think there's any amount of money to get me to move north of the Mason Dixon line.  If it's not the politics, it's the weather.

If you're moving south, Tennessee is a good place to start -- we don't have an income tax and living is cheap.  Unfortunately, we do have a substantial sales tax (9.25%).

I think our sales tax will be the first thing to go up. I have a good friend in Nashville, loved it there when we visited.
