Unless there was a mole convention on DU, that many DU-members dumping on her stupid remark should clue her in to how stupid her comment was. She'd be scared @#$%less if a car came within 10 feet of hers on a public highway at 60 mph (~96 KM/hour). A P-8 is like a Boeing 737, and a Su-27 is akin to an F-15 or Panavia Tornado I'd love to see her "calm" response to a n F-15 or Tornado pilot coming within 10 feet of her 737 at 400 mph!

I'm not sure whether that Flanker pilot came that close to the P-8 intentionally or got careless, but I have a feeling his/her squadron commander reprimanded rather than high-fived him/her. (S)He endangered a multi-million-ruble aircraft and well as a multi-million-ruble fighter pilot for no useful purpose.

The way I see things is that China, Russia, Iran, whoever has the right to buzz past U.S. ships and planes and the U.S. has the right to sink them or blow them out of the sky. It puts the ball in the aggressor's court and make them responsible for their own actions.

Like the P-8 deploying one of those super hot IR decoy flares as the Flanker got close? I can't imagine it being healthy for one of the Flanker's engines to ingest that flare. Might endanger the P-8, though.
