CODEPINK bit off a little more than they could chew when they tried to stage a demonstration against anti-Castro activist Luis Posada Carriles: Anti-war group aborts demonstration plans in Little Havana.
Peace activists in pink dresses and tiaras demanded the arrest of anti-communist militant Luis Posada Carriles Saturday, but aborted plans for a demonstration in Little Havana after Carriles supporters rushed their vehicle.
The six activists, of the Codepink anti-war group, had planned to speak to reporters outside the landmark Versailles restaurant to publicize their campaign against Carriles— a former CIA operative wanted in Venezuela in connection with the 1976 bombing of a Cuban airliner.
However they were met by some 200 irate Cuban-Americans who consider Carriles a champion of freedom. Some ran at the activists’ truck as they arrived, tearing off its pink fringe, while others shouted sexist slurs.
“We’re not in Cuba. We’re supposed to have free speech,†said Medea Benjamin, one of the group’s founders. “This is indicative of how a small group of Cuban-Americans are holding the rest of the community hostage.â€
Carriles supporters sprinted through surrounding streets looking for Benjamin’s truck while bystanders shouted “prostitutes†at her group. They eventually decided to meet with press in the parking lot of a downtown police precinct three miles away.
Benjamin said the group would stick with plans to distribute postcards in Miami Beach and other parts of the city, asking the FBI to Posada Carriles on its most wanted list.
About calling Carriles an “activist†above, even though he’s been accused of involvement in some pretty bad things—if the AP can call Osama bin Laden and Hamas terrorists “militants†and “activists†then the same label should be applied to a fighter against the Castro regime.

What is sad is they don't see it. "Freedom of speech applies to ME, not THEE. And anything or anyone that interferes with it violates the Constitution!" Too damn bad they never read the thing.

She is protesting the anti-Castro Cuban Americans who want a democracy in Cuba while she admits that Cuba has no free speech yet she wants it for herself here. I also bet you a hundred bucks that she is just like DU and loves Castro (otherwise she wouldn't be protesting the anti-Castro people) and claims she would love it if the US was just like Cuba, a socialist paradise, but secretly she would hate living there. But to people like her, "SOME" people need a dictator....just not her. I really hate ****ing liberals.
