14. Struggling Doesn't Begin To Describe.
"Struggling" doesn't begin to describe how I am suffering.

I'm on a fixed income, and, because I am an older woman who does not have English as my first language, I run into constant discrimination when I try to re-enter the job market -- even for minimum wage jobs!!

Meanwhile, the cost of home heating oil, bread, milk, and other basic necessities keeps going UP and UP!

It's all the fault of Bush/Cheney and their gang of corrupt thugs!

I hate them all!

But I haz my fancy computer and my internets connection.....

19. Age discrimination is real.
 People do care, zorahopkins!

You aren't alone. This is happening to a lot of people.

Have you reported that to the EOC?

Have you checked AARP? They have job listings for each state.

Is there a food pantry near you?

Have you applied for Food Stamps?

Is there a Senior Center that could give you some assistance?

I hope things get better for you.

Hopefully, when we win the election in Nov., that will turn a lot of this around.

Hang in there. You are not alone.

In addition to internet access, I want to know how many of these whining DUmmies smoke.  I was in a place yesterday that was selling cigarettes for $5.15 a pack.  I'm betting most of the smokers are at least one-pack-a-day smokers.

Yes, it must be discrimination.  Everyone always gets every job they apply for.  You just apply then turn down the ones you don't want.  That is the way it always works in the real world.   :whatever:

Is it trying to say it is discriminated because it is old or because it doesn't spoke the anglish langwedge very good?  Sheesh.

Crybabies. Reminds me of the old joke about the guy who gets stuck in a flood. He sits on the roof of his house refusing the help of his neighbor with a ladder, then he refuses the help of another neighbor with a boat, finally, a heliocoptor comes by but the guy refuses to budge and drowns. When he gets to Heaven, he asks God why he didn't save him. God says, "I sent a guy with a ladder, a boat and a heliocopter! What more did you need?"

Asshats.

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

Hm, Zorahopkins can type her English very well, which makes me think she can speak it just as well...soooo, why would her not speaking English as a "first" language even matter? It doesn't. There are people who work in all sorts of various jobs who have accents clearly indicating that English is not their "first" language. So much for that lame-assed excuse.

She sounds like a possible mole, too.

Oh, and as for these idiots bemoaning how broke they are and can't pay for the necessities...as they type it and submit it to the internets, that is typical of them.  They don't have the foggiest how stupid it makes them look.  They also panhandle on the 'net too.

The greedy primitive's interesting; allegedly living in Maine, allegedly living in a trailer house.

The greedy primitive allegedly has a husband and children who are allegedly "fundies."

The "picture" one gets of the greedy primitive is that of an older middle-aged woman, slatternly in attire, sitting at a table covered by dirty oilcloth.  I don't know how accurate that is, but it's reasonable to assume it's pretty accurate.

It was the greedy primitive who, about a year and a half ago, found nothing wrong with her ancient paternal ancestor being given some sort of shot by a home health care aide who was stoned at the time.

Yes, things sure have changed since the democrats took over the nation's purse strings.

Things aren't so bad, tho.  Nancy Pelosi can still spend 16,000 taxpayers dollars on flowers for her office.

Oh, how many DUmmies could $16,000 feed?

I imagine that could buy alot of AIDS treatment for someone with no insurance, but Pelosi probably didn't consider that.

32. But I Speak English With An Accent

I am at a bigger disadvantage, because, when I speak English, people know immediately that I was not born in the US.

I encounter it all the time -- the condescending looks, the sneering voices -- that are directed my way because I don't speak perfect English, and because the English I do speak has an accent.

I am discriminated against because I am a female, because I am old, because I am foreign-born, and because I speak my mind.

By setting yourself apart, you are thumbing your nose at me, and the other poster who is telling you that it's also those of us who were born here, speak English, etc.

93. Judgment. Only Judgment

I reach out for the compassion of others.

But, because I am different from others -- I was born outside the USA, I speak my English with an accent, I am old, I am a woman -- I get only judgment and condemnation in return.

I cannot afford to heat where I live, and it is cold.

I am hungry, but there is only cat food, and even that is more than I can really afford.

But all I get is judgment.

Bobboluey sure spends a a lot of time on teh internets at the "library". Maybe if she spent that time in a receptionist's chair or doing some simple data entry job she wouldn't be "homeless". But don't dare suggest that to her. It's an insult to imply that the poor should actually work for whatever money they get. There's something hallowed about the poor.
